Marriage Biodata by Community

Two families of the same religion can still write very different biodatas. A Maratha family looks for the devak, a Tamil Iyer family for the gothram and star, a Bihar family for the native village written in full. These guides take one community at a time, with what its families write and how they share the biodata. They are grouped by region, then by religion.

How the Community Shows on a Biodata

The community usually sits in one line, Caste / Community, right under the religion. Families who marry within the samaj write the sub-group too, such as Kadva Patel, Deshastha Brahmin or Ezhava, because "Patel" or "Brahmin" alone does not tell an elder enough.

In our form, Caste / Community has a search that also finds sub-castes, or you can type your own words. Filling it is always your choice.

The other lines that change by community are the gotra, the family deity, the native village and the matching method. Each guide below says which ones its families read first.

These communities have their own page: what their families write, a filled sample, and a start button that opens the maker. Pick yours.

Guides for Every Community

These guides are not tied to one samaj. They cover the gotra list, sharing a biodata in samaj WhatsApp groups, and writing the community line with care.

Biodata by Religion

Each religion has its own page with the format, a filled sample and the symbol it uses. Start with marriage biodata formats by religion, or go straight to the Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist or Parsi format.

For customs that follow the region more than the community, see marriage biodata by state.

Common Questions

My Community Has No Guide Yet. What Should I Write?

Write the community the way your samaj writes it in its own booklet or on its WhatsApp group. Add the gotra if your families use it, and the native village. The marriage biodata format page covers every other line.

Should I Write My Sub-Caste or Only the Caste?

If your family looks for a match within the sub-caste, write it, because the other family will ask anyway. If it does not matter to you, write only the main community, or write "Sub-caste no bar" in About Me.

How Do I Write Caste with Respect If I Am Open to Any Community?

Leave Caste / Community empty, or fill it and add "Caste no bar" at the end of About Me. Nobody needs to explain more than that on a biodata.

Can I Send My Biodata to a Samaj WhatsApp Group?

Yes. Download the image for the group and keep the PDF for printing. Groups are run by the samaj, so ask the admin how they want it sent. If you do not want a phone number in a big group, put a parent as Contact Person.
