Kunbi Marriage Biodata Format
A Kunbi marriage biodata carries the usual personal and family details, plus four lines families check early. The devak, the kuldaivat (family deity), the sub-group (Tirale, Leva Patil or Dhanoje, for example), and the mul gaav (native village) with taluka and district. Make it here free in Marathi or English.
What Goes in a Kunbi Biodata for Marriage?
A Kunbi lagnacha biodata (marriage biodata) starts with the usual birth details and job. Then come the lines that matter to Kunbi elders:
- the devak, because many families avoid a match where both sides share it
- the kuldaivat with its temple place
- the sub-group, written in the caste line
- the mul gaav with taluka and district
- the land, if the family farms
- the mama (maternal uncle) and his village
Kunbi families live across Maharashtra, and the biodata shifts a little with the region. A Tirale Kunbi family in Wardha and a Leva Patil family in Jalgaon both write Kunbi, but each looks first for its own sub-group.
Devak and Kuldaivat
The devak is the family's guardian emblem, usually a tree or plant such as the pipal, passed down the father's line. It works the way it does for Maratha families. Many families avoid a match where both sides share the same devak, so it goes near the top, the way a gotra does on a Brahmin biodata. Our Maratha biodata guide explains the devak in more detail.
Not sure of yours? Ask an elder in the village. City-born children often have never heard it, but the village usually knows.
The kuldaivat is the family deity and its temple. Common ones in Kunbi families include Khandoba of Jejuri, Tulja Bhavani of Tuljapur, Renuka Mata of Mahur and Ekvira Aai of Karla. Write the deity with the place, the way your elders say it.
Our form has no Devak or Kuldaivat field. Add both with Add Your Own Field in Personal Details. The field name can be up to 40 characters, and you can type it in English or in Marathi.
Sub-Groups and the Caste Line
The sub-group goes in Caste / Community. Our community list has Kunbi with Tirale, Dhanoje, Khaire, Leva Patil, Lonari, Ghatole, Jhare and Maratha Kunbi, among others. Type the first letters and pick it, or write it the way your family writes it on its papers: "Hindu Kunbi (Tirale)" or "Kunbi Maratha". Typed text prints exactly as typed.
| Sub-group | Where many families live |
|---|---|
| Leva Patil | Jalgaon and Khandesh, also parts of Vidarbha |
| Tirale Kunbi | Vidarbha (Wardha, Nagpur, Amravati) |
| Dhanoje Kunbi | Vidarbha (Chandrapur, Wardha) |
| Khaire Kunbi | Vidarbha |
| Kokan Kunbi | Ratnagiri, Raigad, Sindhudurg |
This list is not complete, and the names change from district to district. Leva Patil families of Jalgaon are not the same as the Leuva Patidars of Gujarat, though the names sound close. Gujarati Patidar families will find our Patel marriage biodata page closer to their custom.
Open to other Kunbi sub-groups, or to Maratha families? Write it at the end of About Me. Nobody will assume it.
Patrika, Gan and Nadi
Most Kunbi families match the patrika (horoscope) before a meeting, and many also check gan and nadi. Keep the exact time of birth on the biodata.
Our form fills rashi, nakshatra and lagna from the date, time and place of birth, using the Lahiri ayanamsa. Manglik you choose yourself in the Chevvai / Manglik line, from No, Yes, Partial or Don't Know. Gan and nadi are not fields in our form, so add them with Add Your Own Field in the horoscope section, copying them from the patrika your family has.
If your family does not match patrikas, switch off "Include horoscope on the biodata". The devak and kuldaivat then stay safe in Personal Details, which is where we suggested adding them anyway.
Land, Mama and Mul Gaav
Kunbi families write the family section in full. Farming is respected, and a short land line tells the other side a lot:
- Farmer, 8 acres of cotton and soybean, Hinganghat
- Banana orchard, 5 acres, Raver taluka
- Farming and dairy, 3 acres, Chiplun
Land goes in the Property chip under Add More Details in Family Details. The mama goes in the Maternal Uncle chip with his village. Write the mul gaav in Native Place with taluka and district, even if the family has lived in Pune for years.

Header Line on a Marathi Biodata
With the Ganesha symbol, a Marathi biodata starts with ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥. The Marathi list also has ॥ श्री ॥, ॥ श्री कुलस्वामिनी प्रसन्न ॥ and ॥ श्री कुलदेवता प्रसन्न ॥. The last two point to the kuldaivat without naming one. To name your own deity, such as Khandoba, tap Write My Own and type the line.
Marathi or English, and Samaj Melavas
Most Kunbi families print in Marathi. Type the details in English and choose Marathi. The labels then print in Marathi, along with rashi and nakshatra. Names and your own lines print as you typed them. Families with a son or daughter working abroad often keep an English copy too. See the Marathi marriage biodata page for the Marathi print.
Kunbi samaj organisations in many Vidarbha districts hold vadhu-var parichay melavas, and WhatsApp groups now carry most biodatas. We do not run any group. Keep the one-page image for WhatsApp and the PDF for the printed melava book.

Common Questions
What Details Should a Kunbi Biodata Include?
The usual personal and family details. Put the sub-group in the caste line. Devak and kuldaivat go in as your own fields. Also write the mul gaav, the mama and the patrika details, and the land if the family farms.
How Do I Write Devak and Sub-Group in a Kunbi Biodata?
Add Devak as your own field and write it as the elders name it. Put the sub-group in the caste line, like "Hindu Kunbi (Leva Patil)".
Should I Mention the Sub-Group, Like Tirale or Leva Patil?
Yes. Many families prefer their own sub-group, and those open to others still want to know it.
