Patel Marriage Biodata for Leuva and Kadva Families

A Patel marriage biodata says Leuva or Kadva near the top, then the gaam (native village), the kuldevi and the mosal (mother's family). Make it here free in Gujarati or English, as a PDF or a WhatsApp image.

What Goes in a Patel Biodata for Marriage?

Almost everyone in a Patidar samaj is called Patel, so the surname alone tells the elders very little. "Patel, Anand" is a start. "Leuva Patel, gaam Sojitra, Charotar" tells them which family you are, and often who they know there.

So a Patel marriage biodata gives these lines before the job and the photo get a proper look:

  • Leuva or Kadva, or the other Patidar group the family belongs to
  • the gaam with taluka and district
  • the samaj or gol, if the family belongs to one
  • the kuldevi
  • the mosal, meaning the mother's father's name and village

Under these sit the usual personal details and the family section. Many Patidar biodatas also carry an NRI line, because so many families have a son or daughter in the US, UK, Canada or Australia.

Leuva or Kadva, and Where to Write It

Leuva and Kadva are the two largest Patidar groups. Many families still prefer a match within their own group, so write it in Caste / Community. Type Kadva or Leuva and our community list offers Kadva Patel and Leva Patel (it also finds the Leuva spelling). Anjana, Matia Patel and Charotar Patidar are in the list too.

If you are open to both, write "Leuva or Kadva welcome" at the end of About Me. Nobody assumes it otherwise.

One small thing. Leva Patil families of Jalgaon and Khandesh in Maharashtra are a Kunbi group, not the Gujarat Leuva Patidars, even though the names sound close. If that is your family, our Kunbi marriage biodata page fits you better.

Gaam, Gol and Kuldevi

The gaam is the ancestral village. Families settled in Surat, Ahmedabad, Mumbai or New Jersey still write it, because that is how relatives place them. Our form has Native Place in Family Details. Write the village with taluka and district there: "Sojitra, Petlad taluka, Anand district".

The gol is a circle of villages whose families marry among each other. Not every family belongs to one, and city families often no longer use it. If yours does, add it with Add Your Own Field in Personal Details and name the field Samaj or Gol.

The kuldevi is the family goddess. Many Kadva Patel families worship Umiya Mata of Unjha, and many Leuva Patel families worship Khodiyar Mata. Write your own family's kuldevi with the temple place, as an own field named Kuldevi. Do not copy it from a list. Ask the elders.

The Mosal Line

Mosal (or mosaal) is the mother's parental family. Elders check it, and some families avoid a match into the same mosal village. Open Add More Details in Family Details and tap Maternal Uncle. Write the mama's name and village there, or add your own field named Mosal if your family prefers that word.

NRI and Business Family Lines

If the boy or girl lives abroad, write where they live and the visa or residency status (H-1B, PR, green card). Also say whether they plan to settle there or come back. The city fits in the Current City chip under Contact Details. The visa line goes in About Me or in an own field called Visa Status.

Business families should write the business so a stranger can picture it. "Family business: diamond polishing unit, Varachha, Surat, 40 workers" says far more than "business". Motels in the US, farming in Charotar and pharma in Ahmedabad all read well when you give the place and the size.

Horoscope and Patel Families

It varies from family to family. Many Patidar families match the kundli and check manglik, while others look only at the rasi or skip it. Our form keeps the horoscope section on for a Hindu biodata and fills rasi, nakshatra and lagna from the date, time and place of birth. Manglik you choose yourself, from No, Yes, Partial or Don't Know.

If your family does not match, switch off "Include horoscope on the biodata". Then add Gotra, if you use one, with Add Your Own Field in Personal Details so it still prints.

Header Line on a Gujarati Biodata

On a Gujarati biodata the Blessing Line starts with ॥ શ્રી ગણેશાય નમઃ ॥. Our Gujarati list also has ॥ જય માતાજી ॥, ॥ જય શ્રી કૃષ્ણ ॥ and ॥ જય સ્વામિનારાયણ ॥, which many Patel families use. For a kuldevi line such as Jai Umiya Maa or Jai Khodiyar Maa, tap Write My Own and type it.

Gujarati or English?

Families in Gujarat often print in Gujarati, and families with relatives abroad often print in English so cousins in London or Toronto can read it.

Type everything in English, then choose the print language. In Gujarati, labels such as Date of Birth and Native Place print in Gujarati script, along with rasi and nakshatra. Names and the lines you typed print as you typed them. See the Gujarati marriage biodata page for the Gujarati print.

Many samaj groups hold parichay melas and run WhatsApp groups for biodatas. We do not run any group. Send the image there and email the PDF to families abroad.
