Why "Marwari" Alone Is Not Enough

Marwari is a regional name, not one caste. It covers trading families whose roots are in Marwar and the Shekhawati towns of Rajasthan, Jhunjhunu, Churu, Sikar, Fatehpur and Nawalgarh among them. Many of these families settled generations ago in Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Surat, Assam and Nepal.

Most Marwari families marry within their own community. So the caste line has to name it. "Marwari Agarwal" tells the other side something. "Marwari" on its own leads to a phone call.

Community and Lineage Line

Write the community in Caste / Community, then the lineage line that community uses.

Many Marwari families avoid the mother's gotra or khamp too. If yours checks it, write it on the biodata.

Our Caste / Community list has Marwari, and under it Agarwal, Khandelwal, Maheshwari, Oswal and Porwal. Picking one prints that one name. To print "Marwari Agarwal", type it that way.

Native Place Against Current City

A Marwari biodata usually has two places on it. The native place is where the family comes from. The current city is where they live and work. Elders read both.

Write the native place with the town or village and the district: "Mukundgarh, Jhunjhunu district". Many Kolkata and Mumbai families have not lived there for three or four generations, but they still say "we are from Ratangarh". That line helps the other side find common relatives.

Then write the current city, and the house if it is owned. Native Place is in Family Details. Current City is under Add More Details in Contact Details.

Writing the Family Business

Most Marwari biodatas carry a business line. Make it specific enough that a stranger can picture the shop or the factory:

• Tea gardens and tea trading, Kolkata and Assam
• Steel pipe distribution, Raipur. Started by grandfather in 1972.
• Investment banker in Mumbai. Family runs a textile mill in Bhilwara.

If the son or daughter works in a job outside the business, say so plainly. Families want to know whether the couple will live in the joint family or in another city. Family Type (Joint or Nuclear) is a ready field in Family Details.

Jain Marwari Families

Oswal, many Khandelwal, Agarwal Jain and Porwal families are Jain. Their biodatas add the sect and often the food in detail. Choose Jain as the Religion, and in Diet pick Jain Food. Some Jain families do not match horoscopes, so say clearly whether you do. Our Jain biodata page has the Jain header lines.

Kundli for Hindu Marwari Families

Most Hindu Marwari families match the kundli before a meeting, for gun milan and manglik at least. Our form works out the rasi, nakshatra and lagna from the date, time and place of birth. Chevvai / Manglik is never filled in by itself. Choose it as your panditji has said.

A Filled Marwari Biodata Format for a Girl

The girl, her family and their town are made up. The phone number is masked. Rasi and nakshatra would fill in from the birth details, so we have left them out.

For a boy, add Annual Income and write the firm, its line of business and the city.

Header and Print Language

There is no Marwari print language. Families write their biodatas in Hindi or English, and Hindi labels read naturally for every Marwari family. Type in English, choose Hindi, and the labels print in Devanagari. What you type stays as typed.

Most Marwari biodatas put Ganpati at the top. Choose Hindu as the Religion and the Ganesha symbol comes in by itself, and the Hindi Blessing Line list has ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥ and ॥ जय माता दी ॥. Some families who follow Khatu Shyam ji write "Jai Shri Shyam" instead. That line is not in our list, but Write My Own takes it in Hindi or English letters.

Samaj Groups and Parichay Sammelans

Agarwal, Maheshwari, Oswal and other Marwari samaj bodies hold parichay sammelans and print biodata booklets, and city-wise WhatsApp groups carry most of the day-to-day exchange. We do not run any group. Ask your samaj office or a relative who is a member.

How to Make a Marwari Biodata Here

1. Open the designs. Marigold Toran, Paisley Border and Charcoal Clean suit a Marwari biodata.
2. Choose "This Biodata Is For: Male / Female" and type the Full Name.
3. Verify your mobile number once with the SMS code.
4. Fill Personal Details with your Religion and your community in Caste / Community.
5. Fill Gotra in the horoscope section (under Add More Details), then add Mother's Gotra or Khamp with Add Your Own Field.
6. Fill Family Details with Native Place, and add Current City in Contact Details.
7. Choose Hindi or English at the top. Download PDF or Download Image, and save the free Word file after.
