What Does a Shadi Ka Biodata in Hindi Have?

A biodata for marriage in Hindi has the same four blocks as any other: personal details, kundli details, family details and contact. What makes it Hindi is the wording. Families in UP, Bihar, MP, Rajasthan and Delhi expect labels like janm tithi, kad and pita ka naam, and a Ganesha line at the top.

Most families still call it a shadi ka biodata or vivah biodata, and they send it the moment a rishta is suggested by a relative, a pandit ji or a marriage bureau. The other side reads it on WhatsApp first. If it looks right, it goes to the pandit for kundli milan.

Gotra, Manglik and Nanihal

Two lines decide a lot before any kundli is opened.

Gotra comes first. Most North Indian Hindu families do not marry in the same gotra, and many also avoid the mother's gotra. So write the father's gotra, and if your family checks the nanihal side as well, add the mother's gotra in a field of its own. Our post on same gotra marriage explains the rule.

Manglik comes next. Our Chevvai / Manglik field offers four answers, and on a Hindi biodata they print as manglik, manglik nahin, anshik manglik or pata nahin. The form never fills this in for you. Ask your pandit ji and pick what the kundli says.

Nanihal is the mother's side. Families in the Hindi belt often write the mama's name and town, and some write the kuldevi as well. The mama goes in the Maternal Uncle field under family details. For kuldevi there is no ready field, so add one with Add Your Own Field.

After these filters comes gun milan, the 36-point match. The 36 gun milan post explains what each of the eight parts checks.

Chevvai / Manglik is not in this sample. That answer belongs to Ankit's own kundli. For a girl, families usually read education, job and whether she plans to keep working, so say that plainly in About Me.

Hindi Labels, English Details

This is the part most people ask about. You do not need to type in Hindi.

Fill the form in English and choose Hindi in the Biodata Language box at the top of the form. The headings and labels change to Hindi, and so does everything you pick from a list: rashi, nakshatra, lagna, religion, diet, marital status and height. The date prints as 14-11-1994 in English digits, and the time of birth carries the Hindi word for morning or night.

Whatever you type stays as you typed it. "MBA (Finance)" and "Assistant manager, private bank" print in English letters, which is how most urban families write those lines anyway. If you want the name in Devanagari, switch your phone keyboard to Hindi and type it.

Blessing Line and Title Choices in Hindi

A Hindi biodata with the Ganesha symbol starts with the Ganesha line switched on. The Hindi lines in the list are:

  • ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥
  • ॥ ॐ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥
  • ॥ श्री ॥
  • ॥ ॐ ॥
  • ॥ जय माता दी ॥

The Hindi titles are विवाह बायोडाटा, शादी का बायोडाटा, बायोडाटा and वैवाहिक बायोडाटा. If your family writes something else, say a line for Khatu Shyam ji, pick Write My Own.

Sammelan Booklets and WhatsApp Groups

Many samaj bodies hold a parichay sammelan and print the biodatas in a booklet. They usually ask for one page with a photo and a phone number, so download the PDF for them. A PDF prints the same at every photocopy shop.

For family WhatsApp groups, send the image. It opens on any phone without a PDF reader. Keep the biodata to one page where you can. Our form allows up to three pages, but very few relatives scroll to the third.

Common Questions

Is There a Marriage Biodata Format in Hindi in Word?

Yes. After you download the PDF or image, the same screen offers Download Word File. It is an editable .docx of your Hindi biodata, and it opens in Microsoft Word. See the Word format page for how it looks.

Can I Get the Hindi Biodata as a PDF?

Yes. Download PDF gives you an A4 file ready for printing. The Hindi letters are stored inside the PDF, so it prints the same at any shop.

Is the Hindi Biodata Maker Free?

Yes. One biodata per verified mobile number is free to download. The free file carries a small "Made free at hellobiodata.com" line at the bottom, and Biodata Plus removes it.

Should a Hindi Biodata Mention Manglik?

Most Hindu families in North India expect it, because it is checked before gun milan. Pick the answer your pandit ji gave. If nobody has checked, choose Don't Know, which prints as pata nahin.

Can I Write the Biodata in Hinglish?

Yes, and many families do. Keep the labels in Hindi and type the details in English letters. The Hindu marriage biodata page has an English version if the other family prefers that.
