Tamil Marriage Biodata Format and Maker

A Tamil marriage biodata format has four parts, suya vivaram, jathaga vivaram, kudumba vivaram and thodarbukku, with a Pillaiyar Suzhi or a god's line on top. Fill our form in English, choose Tamil, and all the labels print in Tamil script. It is free to download as a PDF or image.

What Is in a Tamil Marriage Biodata Format?

A Tamil marriage biodata runs in this order. At the top, the Pillaiyar Suzhi or another symbol, a line such as Pillaiyar thunai or Sivamayam, and the title. Then a photo, and four sections: suya vivaram (personal), jathaga vivaram (horoscope), kudumba vivaram (family) and thodarbukku (contact).

That is also how our form is built. Choose Tamil as the Biodata Language and those four headings print in Tamil.

This page is about the Tamil language biodata as a whole: names, labels, header lines and family details. For the horoscope side, the rasi, natchathiram, lagnam and what the jothidar does with them, read our jathagam biodata format page.

Tamil Names and the Initial

Most Tamil families do not use a surname. The father's initial comes before the given name, so Karthikeyan, son of Ramasamy, writes R. Karthikeyan. Type the Full Name that way. Some families write the initial after the name, Karthikeyan R., which is also fine.

Many biodatas put Selvan before a boy's name and Selvi before a girl's. Parents get Thiru. and Thirumathi. Our form takes the name as you type it, so add these yourself if your family uses them.

The father's name in the family section can carry his own initial too: K. Ramasamy. Elders in Madurai or Tirunelveli read the initials and the native place together to place the family.

Kula Deivam, Sondha Oor and Thai Maman

Three family lines show up on most Tamil biodatas.

Kula deivam, the family deity, is written with the temple town where it helps: "Karuppasamy, Alagar Kovil" or "Palani Murugan". There is no ready field for it. Add it with Add Your Own Field at the end of the family section.

Sondha oor is the native place. Fill Native Place in the family section, and it prints with the Tamil words for sondha oor. If you now live in Chennai or Coimbatore, put that in Current City under contact.

The thai maman, the mother's brother, has a real role in a Tamil wedding, and many families write his name and town. Add Maternal Uncle from Add More Details in the family section.

A Filled Tamil Biodata Format for a Boy

Karthikeyan is made up, along with his family and kula deivam. The number is masked. The rasi, natchathiram and lagnam are what our calculator gives for his birth details.

On the Tamil biodata these print the Tamil way, as Simmam rasi and Pooram natchathiram.

Chevvai dosham is not filled here. Write what your jothidar has said. On a Tamil biodata the four answers print as undu, illai, pagudhi alavu and theriyadhu.

If your family jathagam was written from the Vakya panchangam, the natchathiram can differ from ours near a boundary. Change it to match the jathagam. The jathagam page explains why.

How the Tamil Language Setting Works

You can type everything in English. In the "Top of the Biodata" card, set Biodata Language to Tamil. The form itself starts showing rasi, natchathiram and lagnam in Tamil, so you can check them before you download.

On the biodata, all headings and labels print in Tamil. So do the items picked from lists: rasi, natchathiram with its padam, lagnam, religion, marital status, diet and height. The date prints as 30-07-1995, and the time of birth carries the Tamil word for the part of the day.

Your own typing stays as typed. "B.E. (Mechanical)" stays in English letters, which is how most Tamil biodatas write degrees anyway. For the name in Tamil script, switch your phone keyboard to Tamil and type it.

Header Lines in the Tamil List

The Pillaiyar Suzhi is one of our symbols, so you get it as the mark at the very top. With it, the Tamil blessing lines come first:

  • பிள்ளையார் துணை
  • சிவமயம்
  • முருகன் துணை
  • ஓம் முருகா
  • ஸ்ரீ வெங்கடேச பெருமாள் துணை

The Tamil titles are திருமண பயோடேட்டா, சுயவிவரம், திருமண சுயவிவரம் and பயோடேட்டா. For any other line, like one for your kula deivam, use Write My Own.

Brokers, Jothidars and WhatsApp

In Tamil Nadu the biodata often goes to a marriage information centre, a family jothidar and a dozen relatives at once. Give the jothidar and the broker the PDF, which prints sharp. On WhatsApp, the image opens faster for elders. Our biodata does not print the rasi kattam, so if a jothidar asks for the chart, send the jathagam your family already has.

The Tamil Nadu marriage biodata post covers what families in different districts write.

Common Questions

Is There a Tamil Marriage Biodata Format in Word?

Yes. After the PDF or image download, tap Download Word File. You get an editable .docx of the same Tamil biodata that opens in Microsoft Word, and Tamil letters show correctly there on Windows 10 and 11.

Can I Make a Tamil Marriage Biodata Free?

Yes. One biodata per verified mobile number downloads free as PDF and image. The free file has a small "Made free at hellobiodata.com" line at the bottom.

Should a Tamil Biodata Be in Tamil or English?

Tamil for elders, brokers and jothidars in smaller towns. English for families settled in Bengaluru, Hyderabad or abroad. Many families download both, since switching the language takes a minute.

How Do I Write the Name Without a Surname?

Initial first, then the name: R. Karthikeyan. The father's full name goes in the family section.

Does the Biodata Show Porutham?

No. The biodata gives rasi, natchathiram and lagnam, and the jothidar checks porutham from both jathagams. Our 10 porutham post explains each point.
