Which Is the Best Matrimony Site in India for Your Family?

Which Is the Best Matrimony Site in India for Your Family?

The best matrimony site in India is the one where families like yours are already looking. For most Hindu families that means one of the big national sites, Shaadi.com, Jeevansathi or BharatMatrimony, or a site run for your own community. None of them is best for everyone. When we checked on 15 October 2026, Shaadi.com and Jeevansathi both kept their plan prices hidden until you log in.

This page is for parents starting a search for a son or daughter, and for anyone choosing where to put a profile first. We do not run a matrimony site and we take no money from any of them.

How We Compared the Sites

We looked only at what each site says on its own public pages, opened on 15 October 2026. We did not buy plans, and we did not use reviews or rankings from other blogs, because most of those are written by the sites themselves or by people paid to list them.

That means some things are missing. Nobody outside a company can count how many of its profiles are real, so we do not give user numbers or a "most genuine" winner. If a site claims a number, treat it as the site's own claim.

BharatMatrimony's pages refused our checks that day, so we describe it in general terms only and do not quote any feature or price for it.

Which Site Suits Which Family

Think about who you want to reach, and the brand will follow.

If your family is open to matches across India, start with one big national site. Their search lets you narrow the list by religion and mother tongue, and then by city.

If you want someone from your own community, a samaj site run for your community may have fewer profiles but a closer fit. Some community associations and sangams also keep their own matrimony list. Ask at the next function, or ask the office bearer who handles it.

For a second marriage, use the marital status filter on whichever site you pick, and write Divorced or Widowed plainly in your own profile. Our guide on biodata for a second marriage has the wording.

For an NRI match, a national site reaches more families abroad. Read our page on NRI marriage fraud before going ahead with any proposal from overseas.

Are Paid Plans Worth the Money?

A paid plan is worth it once you know the site has enough matches for you. Use the free account for two or three weeks first. Search with your real filters, say a Telugu girl in Hyderabad, 26 to 30, B.Tech or above, and count how many profiles come up.

If you see five profiles, paying will not create more. If you see two hundred, paying to contact them makes sense.

Before you pay, check three things on the site itself:

  1. How many contacts the plan lets you view. Jeevansathi's Pro Lite and Pro, for example, list 20 contact views.
  2. Whether the plan renews on its own. If it does and you do not want that, switch renewal off right after paying.
  3. The refund terms, word by word. Jeevansathi's 30-day guarantee, for instance, applies only to first-time buyers of its main online plans, and asks that you send 10 genuine interests and do not view any contact in that period.

Assisted plans, where a relationship manager searches for you, cost more. They help a busy family that cannot check profiles every evening. They do not replace your own checks on a family.

Safety Features Compared

Every site screens profiles in some way, and every site still has fake ones. Jeevansathi's home page lists "100% Screened Profiles" and verification of phone numbers. Shaadi.com's premium plans offer "verified contact details". Screening a phone number is not the same as checking his job or his marital status. That part is still yours.

Both sites let you report a profile. On Shaadi.com you open the profile, tap the down arrow at the top right and pick Report Profile/Photo, and the member is blocked for you at the same time. Jeevansathi asks members to mark such profiles with Report Abuse and to write to help@jeevansathi.com about a likely fake.

Jeevansathi's fraud alert page also says it never asks for your password on the phone or in person. A caller who says he is from a matrimony site and wants your password or an OTP is not from the site.

If you lose money to someone you met on any site, call 1930 at once. You can also report it on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. Our page on matrimony fraud lists the usual scams and how to report each one.

Sites, Bureaus or Sharing the Biodata Yourself

Most families use more than one route at the same time.

RouteGood forWatch out for
Matrimony siteMany profiles, filters, reaching other cities and NRIsFake profiles, paid contacts, auto-renewal
Local marriage bureau or brokerPersonal knowledge of families in your townFees in cash with no receipt, profiles sent without checks
Relatives and community groupsFamilies someone already knowsA smaller circle, and gossip if a talk ends
Temple or samaj notice boardsYour own community, low costOld notices, little detail

Whatever the route, the first thing the other family asks for is the biodata. One clear biodata works on every site, with every broker and in every WhatsApp group. You can pick a biodata design and fill it in, then download it as a PDF or JPG to upload or share. The marriage biodata sample page shows two filled ones, for a boy and a girl.

If you are just starting, our guide on how to find a groom for your daughter covers the order to do things in. More guides are in our arranged marriage section.

Common questions

Which Matrimony Site Is Best in India?

There is no single best site. Pick the one where families from your community and region are looking, test it with a free account, and pay only if your search shows enough matches.

Which Matrimony Site Has the Most Genuine Profiles?

No outside source can count real profiles on any site, so treat every such claim as advertising. Every site has fakes, and your own checks on a family matter more than the brand.

How Much Do Matrimony Sites Cost?

On 15 October 2026, Shaadi.com and Jeevansathi showed plan prices only after login, so we cannot quote them. Log in, note the price and duration of each plan, and compare what you get per month.

Are Paid Matrimony Plans Worth It?

Yes, if the free search already shows many suitable profiles and you are ready to contact them. If the free search shows very few, a paid plan will not fix that.

Which Matrimony Site Is Best for Second Marriage?

Any large site works if you use the marital status filter and state your status clearly. Some communities also have their own groups for second marriages, which your relatives may know.
