Kerala Marriage Biodata Format in Malayalam or English

A Kerala marriage biodata format fits on one A4 page in four parts, with the star (nakshatram) and chovva dosham in the horoscope part. Type the details in English or Malayalam and set the Biodata Language to Malayalam. Every label then prints in Malayalam script.

What Goes in a Kerala Marriage Biodata Format?

A Malayalam marriage biodata starts with a blessing line and the title വിവാഹ ബയോഡാറ്റ (vivaha biodata), then the photo. Under that come the person's details: name, date, time and place of birth, height, religion, caste or community, education and job.

Most Hindu families add the horoscope part next, then the parents, the brothers and sisters and the native place, and finally a contact number, which is usually the father's or the mother's.

That is all. A Kerala biodata is not longer than others. It differs in a few lines that Kerala families read first.

The Star Comes First

In a Kerala Hindu proposal, the first question on the phone is often "Naal etha?" (which star?). If the star does not suit, many families stop reading there. So the nakshatram, with its pada, has to be right.

Our form has four horoscope rows: Rasi, Nakshatra, Lagna and Chevvai / Manglik. Gotra, Dasa at Birth and Tithi wait under Add More Details.

Fill in the date, time and place of birth and the form works out the rasi, the nakshatram with its pada and the lagnam on its own, using the Lahiri method. If the jathakam your family astrologer wrote says something different, pick the jathakam's value. It wins.

Chovva dosham is different. The form never fills it in, so open the jathakam, see what the astrologer wrote and choose No, Yes, Partial or Don't Know yourself.

Some Kerala families also write two things the form does not have as ready fields:

WhatHow to add it
Papasamyam (the papa points the astrologer counted)Add Your Own Field in the Horoscope section, named Papasamyam, with the number from the jathakam
Birth date in Kollavarsham, such as "1172 Karkidakam 6"Add Your Own Field in Personal Details

Copy both exactly from the jathakam, or leave them out. A wrong papam number causes more trouble than a missing one.

The horoscope prints as text rows. No grahanila chart. If the other side's astrologer asks for the full jathakam, take clear photos of its pages in daylight and send them on WhatsApp separately.

House Name, Native Place and the Gulf Line

Many Kerala families are known by the house name, the tharavad or veettuperu, such as Puthenveedu or Kizhakkedathu. There is no ready field for it in our form. Use Add Your Own Field in Personal Details and name it House Name. It goes to the end of the section, and you can move it up next to the name from its three-dot menu.

Write the native place as town and district, like Irinjalakuda, Thrissur. A family settled in Kochi or Muscat for twenty years still writes the native place, because relatives place a family by it.

Working in the Gulf? Write the job with the city: "Staff Nurse, Dubai". If the family lives somewhere other than the native place, add Current City from Add More Details in Contact Details, and put the visa type or years abroad in About Me.

Christian and Muslim Biodatas from Kerala

No horoscope here. When you choose Christian as the Religion, the horoscope section switches off by itself, and you can put the Cross at the top.

Write the church in Caste / Community: Syro-Malabar Catholic, Latin Catholic, Malankara Orthodox, Jacobite, Marthoma, CSI or Pentecostal. Then add the Church / Parish row from Add More Details in Personal Details, such as "St. Mary's Forane Church, Pala". If the diocese matters to your family, add it with Add Your Own Field. Our Christian marriage biodata page has more on denomination and parish lines.

For a Kerala Muslim biodata, choosing Muslim also switches the horoscope off. Write Sunni or Mujahid or the family's group in Caste / Community, and add the mahallu with Add Your Own Field if the family wants it there. The Muslim marriage biodata page covers sect and practice lines.

With Malayalam as the Biodata Language, the rasi and nakshatram print as കർക്കടകം and പൂയം. The name, job and place print exactly as you typed them.

How the Malayalam Setting Works

The website is in English. The language you pick only changes what the biodata prints.

Biodata Language is the first box in "Top of the Biodata" on the form. Choose Malayalam there. Every label then prints in Malayalam script, and so do the section titles and anything you pick from a list, like the rasi or the Diet.

What you type prints as you typed it. If you type "Staff Nurse, Dubai" in English, the biodata shows Malayalam labels with English details. Plenty of Kerala families are happy with that. If you want the whole page in Malayalam, type the details with a Malayalam keyboard on your phone.

The date of birth prints in numbers, 21-07-1997, on a Malayalam biodata. Any label can be changed from the row's three-dot menu. Rename നക്ഷത്രം to നാൾ if that is what your family says.

Blessing Lines at the Top

A Malayalam biodata starts with the Blessing Line switched on. For a Hindu biodata, these are the Malayalam lines you can pick:

  • ഹരിഃ ശ്രീ ഗണപതയേ നമഃ
  • ഓം ഹരിഃ ശ്രീ ഗണപതയേ നമഃ
  • ശ്രീ ഗണേശായ നമഃ
  • ഓം നമഃ ശിവായ

A Muslim biodata gets ബിസ്മില്ലാഹിർ റഹ്മാനിർ റഹീം along with the Arabic Bismillah. For a Christian biodata the built-in line is the English verse "God is love" (1 John 4:8). Write My Own takes any other line, such as a verse your family prefers.

The title can be വിവാഹ ബയോഡാറ്റ or just ബയോഡാറ്റ.

Common Questions

Is There a Kerala Marriage Biodata Format in Word?

Yes. After you download the PDF or the image, the done screen offers "Download Word File", an editable .docx of the same biodata. It opens in Microsoft Word, so you can change a line later.

Can I Make a Malayalam Biodata for Free?

Yes. Each verified mobile number gets one free biodata, and 63 of the 66 designs are free. A free download carries a small "Made free at hellobiodata.com" line at the bottom.

Should a Kerala Biodata Show the Jathakam?

Most Hindu families put the star, rasi, lagnam and chovva dosham on the biodata and keep the full jathakam for later. Send the jathakam pages when the other family's astrologer asks for them.

Can I Write "Star" Instead of Nakshatra?

Yes. On an English biodata the row prints as Nakshatra. Open the row's three-dot menu, tap Rename and type Star. On a Malayalam biodata you can rename നക്ഷത്രം to നാൾ the same way.

Malayalam or English for a Kerala Proposal?

Many Christian and NRI families send an English biodata, while elders in Hindu families often like Malayalam labels. You fill the form once. Switch the Biodata Language and download a second copy if you need both.

What Is a Kalyana Biodata?

Kalyana biodata is the same thing, the marriage biodata a family sends with a proposal. Some Malayali families say kalyanam, some say vivaham. The format above works for both.
