An actor's marriage biodata should name the medium and give real work: "Actor in Kannada TV serials since 2019, lead role in two serials" says far more than "Actor". Add whether acting is your full-time income or you have another job, an income range for the last two or three years, and one line on shooting hours.
Families are curious about actors, and also a little careful. A clear biodata answers the careful questions before anyone has to ask them.
What Families Want to Know About an Acting Career
Most elders have three questions. Is there regular work? Is the income enough to run a house? And what are the hours like, because they have heard about night shoots?
The biodata is the place to answer all of it in five or six lines. The rest of the format, from birth details to family, stays the same as anyone else's.
Writing the Job / Occupation Line
Say the medium, the language, the kind of roles and the starting year. If you have a known project, name one. Do not list ten.

Dubbing and voice work deserve a mention, because many actors earn steady money from it and families may not know the work exists.
If you are a member of a recognised artistes' association, such as CINTAA in Mumbai or a state film or television artistes' association, you can add it in About Me. It shows you are working in the industry in a regular way.
Income That Comes in Projects
Actors are paid per day, per episode or per project. So write a yearly range, not a monthly figure.
- "₹8 to 12 lakh per year (last 3 years)"
- "Per-episode work, about ₹6 lakh per year, plus income from a dance class"
If acting is not yet paying the bills, say what does. "Runs a dance class for children, income ₹30,000 per month; acting income extra" is honest and reassuring. Family property or a family business can go in the Family section under Property.
If you are just starting, you may want to leave Annual Income out. That is allowed. A made-up figure is the one thing you should never write, because families do check through friends in the industry more often than you would think.
Shooting Schedules and Travel
Daily TV serials often shoot for long hours on most days of the month. Film schedules can take you out of town for weeks. Theatre means evening shows and weekend tours.
Write what is true for you, in one or two lines:
- "Shoots 20 to 22 days a month, usually 9 am to 9 pm, in Hyderabad."
- "Film schedules take me out of town for 2 to 4 weeks at a time, two or three times a year."
- "Evening shows on weekends; weekdays are rehearsals and teaching."
A family that knows this in advance can decide calmly. A family that finds out after the engagement feels misled.
Being in the Public Eye
Some actors are recognised on the street. Some get comments on social media. Families think about this, especially for a daughter or son marrying into the profession.
You do not need a long explanation. One plain line works: "I am recognised in Pune because of my serial, but my family life is private and simple." It tells them you have thought about it.
For safety, do not put your fan page or a public Instagram with lakhs of followers on the biodata. The biodata gets forwarded to many phones. Keep it to name, work and family. If someone wants to see your work, they will search for it.

Partner Expectations
