The vivah muhurat dates in December 2026 are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11 and 12 December, as per Drik Panchang's marriage calendar for New Delhi. All 7 fall in the first half of the month. Kharmas begins with Dhanu Sankranti on Wednesday, 16 December 2026, and from then on there is no marriage date until 15 January 2027.
Prokerala agrees on three of these windows. The table and the comparison are below.
December 2026 Marriage Muhurat Dates
These are the days Drik Panchang marks for marriage, in New Delhi time, as shown on 15 October 2026.
| Date | Day | Muhurat time (New Delhi) | Nakshatra | Tithi |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 December 2026 | Wednesday | 10:32 am to 6:58 am on 3 December | Uttara Phalguni | Navami, Dashami |
| 3 December 2026 | Thursday | 6:58 am to 10:53 am, and 11:03 pm to 6:59 am on 4 December | Uttara Phalguni, Hasta | Dashami, Ekadashi |
| 4 December 2026 | Friday | 6:59 am to 10:22 am | Hasta | Ekadashi |
| 5 December 2026 | Saturday | 11:48 am to 7:00 am on 6 December | Swati | Dwadashi, Trayodashi |
| 6 December 2026 | Sunday | 7:00 am to 7:42 am | Swati | Trayodashi |
| 11 December 2026 | Friday | 3:04 am to 7:04 am on 12 December | Uttara Ashadha | Tritiya |
| 12 December 2026 | Saturday | 7:04 am to 3:27 am on 13 December | Uttara Ashadha | Tritiya, Chaturthi |
Read the 11 December row carefully. The window starts at 3:04 am, which on the clock is already Saturday, 12 December. The panchang counts a day from sunrise to sunrise, so the small hours before sunrise still belong to Friday's panchang day.
How Prokerala's December List Compares
Prokerala's 2026 page shows three December windows:
- 2 December night to 3 December, late morning, in Uttara Phalguni
- 3 December night to 4 December, mid-morning, in Hasta
- the early hours of 12 December, in Uttara Ashadha
All three overlap with Drik Panchang's list. 5 and 6 December (Swati) and the daytime of 12 December appear only on Drik Panchang. Prokerala's page does not name the place its times are for, so we have left its clock times out.
Which Days Are Good for a Weekend Wedding?
December 2026 has three weekend options on Drik Panchang:
| Weekend day | What the window allows |
|---|---|
| Saturday, 5 December | From 11:48 am, and through the night |
| Sunday, 6 December | Only 7:00 am to 7:42 am |
| Saturday, 12 December | The whole day, from 7:04 am to 3:27 am |
Saturday, 12 December is the strongest weekend pick. It is also the last muhurat of 2026 for New Delhi. Expect halls in big cities to be booked early for this one date.
Why the Middle of the Month Has No Dates
Between the 7 dates, Drik Panchang gives a reason for each missing day:
| Dates | Reason given |
|---|---|
| 1 December | An unsuitable yoga covers most of the day |
| 7 and 8 December | An unsuitable karana covers most of the day |
| 9 and 10 December | An unsuitable yoga |
| 13 to 15 December | No suitable nakshatra |
| 16 to 31 December | Kharmas (Sun in Dhanu) |
When Does Kharmas Start in December 2026?
Kharmas starts on 16 December 2026, the day of Dhanu Sankranti. Drik Panchang's sankranti list gives the moment as 10:29 am, New Delhi time. Kharmas is the solar month when the Sun is in Dhanu (Sagittarius), and North Indian families do not hold weddings in it.
Kharmas ends when the Sun enters Makara. For 2027, Drik Panchang gives Makara Sankranti on 15 January 2027 (the moment is 9:14 pm on 14 January), and the first marriage date of the new year is 15 January.
Tamil families know the same stretch as the month of Margazhi, and many of them avoid weddings in it too.
Is Vivah Panchami 2026 Good for Marriage?
Vivah Panchami, the day that marks the wedding of Rama and Sita, falls on Monday, 14 December 2026 in Drik Panchang's festival list. Drik Panchang does not list a marriage muhurat on that day, because no suitable nakshatra is running. If your family still wants a ceremony linked to Vivah Panchami, talk to your priest about it.
Do Tamil, Telugu and Bengali Calendars Agree?
The dates above come from the North Indian lunar calendar. Regional panchangs use their own rules, so they can add or drop days.
Tamil families should note that December 2026 straddles two solar months. Karthigai runs until mid-December, and Margazhi starts with the Sun's entry into Dhanu. Telugu, Kannada and Bengali families should check the panchangam or panjika they normally follow. In every region, a local priest who fixes muhurthams week after week is the best check.
Engagement and Roka Dates in December 2026
There is no separate engagement list here. Most families hold the nichayathartham, roka or sagai on a day the priest gives, often one of the marriage muhurat days. If you plan to marry in January or February 2027, an early December engagement keeps enough time for the cards and the hall.
How to Pick the Time Within a Muhurat
The calendar window is the outer limit. Within it, the priest picks the lagna, a slot of about 1 to 2 hours when a good rising sign is in place. Give the priest the date, time and place of birth for both sides. Our post on the rest of the 2026 season after Diwali shows how November and December fit together.
Booking Tips for December 2026
- Treat 12 December as the busiest date of the season. Book the hall and priest the same week you decide.
- If you want a morning ceremony, 3 December (6:58 am to 10:53 am) and 4 December (6:59 am to 10:22 am) both work.
- A night wedding fits 2 December and 5 December, both with windows running past midnight.
- If December is full, move to the second half of January 2027. Our January 2027 muhurat list has 9 dates.
For the rest of the planning, our wedding planning checklist goes month by month.
If the alliance is not fixed yet, start with the biodata. You can choose a design and make a biodata with the birth details the priest will ask for, and download it as a PDF or a JPG image.
Every month's dates and the periods to avoid are listed in our wedding muhurat section.
