Marriage Muhurat 2026 After Diwali, Every Date Left This Year

After Diwali, 2026 has 11 marriage muhurat days left on Drik Panchang's calendar for New Delhi. Four are in November (21, 24, 25 and 26) and seven are in December (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11 and 12). Diwali is on 8 November 2026, but the dates start only after Dev Uthani Ekadashi on 20 November, and they stop again when Kharmas begins on 16 December.

So the 2026 season is about three weeks long. If your family wants a wedding this year, the hall is the first thing to book.

These are Drik Panchang's dates, as we read them on 15 October 2026. The exact clock times for each day are in our November 2026 list and our December 2026 list.

Prokerala, the other big panchang site, gives fewer windows for the same weeks: 20 November, 25 to 26 November, 2 to 3 December, 3 to 4 December and the early hours of 12 December. The days both sites share are 25 and 26 November, 2, 3 and 4 December, and the early hours of 12 December.

Why Does the Season Restart Only After 20 November?

The four months of Chaturmas end on Dev Uthani Ekadashi, also called Prabodhini or Devutthana Ekadashi. In 2026 it falls on Friday, 20 November, in Drik Panchang's Ekadashi list. Most North Indian families do not hold weddings during Chaturmas, and Drik Panchang marks every day from 1 to 19 November as closed for that reason.

Diwali comes 12 days earlier, on Sunday 8 November. That is why searching for "muhurat after Diwali" finds nothing for the first fortnight. Tulasi Vivah, the ceremonial wedding of the tulsi plant, falls on 21 November 2026, the same day as the first muhurat.

Why Were There No Marriage Dates from August to October 2026?

Chaturmas covered all of those months. Drik Panchang's 2026 calendar has no marriage day in August, September or October, and Prokerala marks the same three months as having no muhurat.

Are There Marriage Muhurats in December 2026?

Yes, 7 days, all between 2 and 12 December. Saturday 12 December is the last muhurat of the year on Drik Panchang, with a window from 7:04 am to 3:27 am the next morning, New Delhi time.

Vivah Panchami, on 14 December 2026, has no listed muhurat this year, because no suitable nakshatra runs that day.

When Does Kharmas 2026 Start?

Kharmas starts on Wednesday, 16 December 2026, with Dhanu Sankranti, the Sun's entry into Sagittarius. Drik Panchang gives the moment as 10:29 am, New Delhi time.

The pause lasts about a month. Makara Sankranti falls on 15 January 2027 (the Sun moves at 9:14 pm on 14 January), and Drik Panchang's first marriage date of 2027 is 15 January.

If You Missed 2026, the Best Early 2027 Dates

January 2027 has 9 dates, all from 15 January onwards. February 2027 has 13, the highest count in the season, including Vasant Panchami on 11 February.

MonthNumber of days on Drik PanchangWeekend options
January 20279Sunday 24, Sunday 31
February 202713Sunday 21, Saturday 27 night, Sunday 28
March 20277Sunday 14 (evening)

March dates end on 14 March, because the Sun enters Meena on 15 March and another solar month follows when weddings are not held. Our vivah muhurat 2027 list covers the whole year.

How Regional Calendars Change the Picture

The 11 dates above come from the North Indian lunar calendar. Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali families go by their own panchangam or panjika, and their muhurtham days can differ.

Tamil readers should note one more thing. The Tamil month of Margazhi lines up with Kharmas, from mid-December to Pongal, and many Tamil families avoid weddings then too. So for most families in Tamil Nadu, the 2026 window closes around the same time as in the north.

Booking Pressure on Peak Dates

With only 11 days in the season for most North Indian Hindu weddings, there is real pressure on halls, priests, caterers and bands. A few things help:

  1. Shortlist two dates, not one. If 12 December is gone, 5 December has a long window too.
  2. Call the hall and the priest the same day. Confirm the date in writing, with the advance amount.
  3. Ask the priest for the lagna slot early. The hall booking is for hours, and the slot decides which hours.
  4. Out-of-town guests need train tickets. Book as soon as the reservation window opens for your date.
  5. Keep the paperwork moving. Our wedding planning checklist covers the month-by-month jobs.

Fixing a date this season? The other family will want the biodata first. If yours is not ready, pick a design and fill it in. Hello Biodata works out rasi, nakshatra and lagna from the birth details, which the priest will also need. Downloads are a PDF or a JPG image, and a free download carries a small "Made free at hellobiodata.com" line at the foot.

Every month's dates and the periods to avoid are listed in our wedding muhurat section.
