The vivah muhurat dates in January 2027 are 15, 18, 19, 20, 24, 26, 27, 30 and 31 January, as per Drik Panchang's marriage calendar for New Delhi. That makes 9 days, and all of them come after Makara Sankranti. From 1 to 14 January the Sun is still in Dhanu, the Kharmas month, so no wedding date is given.
Prokerala's list is shorter, with windows on 14 to 15, 18, 24 and 31 January. The full table and the differences are below.
January 2027 Marriage Muhurat Dates
Times are New Delhi local time, as shown on Drik Panchang on 15 October 2026.
| Date | Day | Muhurat time (New Delhi) | Nakshatra | Tithi |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 15 January 2027 | Friday | 7:15 am to 2:13 pm | Revati | Saptami |
| 18 January 2027 | Monday | 9:05 pm to 9:12 pm | Rohini, Krittika | Ekadashi |
| 19 January 2027 | Tuesday | 7:49 am to 7:14 am on 20 January | Rohini, Mrigashira | Dwadashi, Trayodashi |
| 20 January 2027 | Wednesday | 7:14 am to 4:17 pm | Mrigashira | Trayodashi |
| 24 January 2027 | Sunday | 10:20 am to 9:29 pm | Magha | Tritiya |
| 26 January 2027 | Tuesday | 8:18 pm to 7:12 am on 27 January | Uttara Phalguni, Hasta | Panchami, Shashthi |
| 27 January 2027 | Wednesday | 7:12 am to 11:56 pm | Hasta | Shashthi |
| 30 January 2027 | Saturday | 3:55 am to 7:10 am on 31 January | Anuradha | Navami |
| 31 January 2027 | Sunday | 7:10 am to 7:34 pm | Anuradha | Dashami |
Two rows need a second look. The 18 January window is only 7 minutes long, so it is of little use for a full ceremony unless your priest can work with it. And the 30 January window runs from 3:55 am to 7:10 am, which on the clock is the early morning of Sunday, 31 January. The panchang day runs sunrise to sunrise, so those hours count under 30 January.
How Prokerala's January List Compares
Prokerala's 2027 page shows four January windows:
- 14 January night to 15 January afternoon
- a short window on the evening of 18 January, in Rohini
- 24 January, in Magha
- 31 January, in Anuradha
Every one of these overlaps a Drik Panchang day. Prokerala leaves out 19, 20, 26, 27 and 30 January, which Drik Panchang includes. Prokerala does not say which city its times are for, so we have not copied its clock times.
Are There Marriage Dates Before Makara Sankranti 2027?
No, not on Drik Panchang. Kharmas runs while the Sun is in Dhanu, from 16 December 2026 to Makara Sankranti. Drik Panchang gives Makara Sankranti on Friday, 15 January 2027, with the Sun's entry at 9:14 pm on 14 January, New Delhi time. It marks 14 January as partly inside Kharmas and every day from 1 to 13 January as closed.
Prokerala's first window starts on the night of 14 January, close to the Sankranti moment. If your family is looking at that night, ask the priest which rule he follows.
15 January 2027 is also Pongal in Tamil Nadu, and Lohri falls a day earlier, on 14 January, in Drik Panchang's festival list. Expect family events to clash in Tamil and Punjabi households that week.
Is Shukra Asta a Problem in January 2027?
No. Drik Panchang removes days when Venus (Shukra) or Jupiter (Guru) is set, and it does not mark any January 2027 day for that reason. The missing days in January are due to Kharmas, the nakshatra or the yoga.
| Dates | Reason given on Drik Panchang |
|---|---|
| 1 to 13 January | Kharmas (Sun in Dhanu) |
| 14 January | Partly inside Kharmas |
| 16, 17, 21 to 23 January | No suitable nakshatra |
| 25 and 28 January | An unsuitable yoga spoils the nakshatra |
| 29 January | An unsuitable yoga covers most of the day |
Weekend and Holiday Dates in January 2027
| Day | Window |
|---|---|
| Sunday, 24 January | 10:20 am to 9:29 pm |
| Saturday night, 30 January | 3:55 am to 7:10 am (early Sunday on the clock) |
| Sunday, 31 January | 7:10 am to 7:34 pm |
Tuesday, 26 January is Republic Day, a national holiday. It has an evening muhurat from 8:18 pm, which suits a night wedding when relatives do not need to take leave.
Do Tamil, Telugu and Bengali Calendars Agree?
The Drik Panchang list follows the North Indian lunar calendar. Regional calendars can differ, so check the one your family uses.
For Tamil families, January 2027 is the start of Thai, which begins with Pongal on 15 January. Thai is a popular month for Tamil weddings, and the Tamil saying "Thai pirandhal vazhi pirakkum" (when Thai is born, a way opens) is heard in many homes at this time. The exact muhurtham days come from the Tamil panchangam, not from this list.
Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali families should likewise go by their own panchangam or panjika, and confirm with the priest who will conduct the wedding.
Engagement and Roka Dates in January 2027
Engagements are usually fixed by the priest on a good day near the wedding date. If your wedding is in February or March 2027, a late-January engagement on one of the dates above is common. We have not listed separate engagement dates, because we only cross-checked the marriage list.
How to Choose the Time on the Day
The muhurat window is the outer limit. Inside it, the priest fixes the lagna, often a slot of 1 to 2 hours. Give the priest both horoscopes, or at least the date, time and place of birth for the bride and groom.

Booking Tips for January 2027
- The second half of January opens right after a month-long gap, so many families will target the same few dates. Book the hall as soon as the date is fixed.
- If you want a daytime wedding on a weekend, Sunday 24 January and Sunday 31 January are the two options.
- 19 January has a near 24-hour window. It is a weekday, but the hall and priest may be easier to get.
- If January is full, February 2027 has 13 dates. See our February 2027 muhurat list.
The rest of the work is in our wedding planning checklist. If you are still sending proposals, make the biodata first. It keeps the birth details the priest will ask for in one place.
Every month's dates and the periods to avoid are listed in our wedding muhurat section.
