To send a marriage biodata on WhatsApp, open the chat, tap the attachment (paperclip or plus) button, choose Document, pick the biodata PDF and send it with a short two-line message. Sending it as a document keeps it sharp for printing. If the other family uses an older phone, also send a JPG image of the biodata, which opens in the chat without any app.
Final Checks Before You Send
Once a biodata goes out on WhatsApp, it can be forwarded to many phones, and you cannot take it back. Check these five things first.
- Read the father's name, the star and the time of birth aloud. These are the most common mistakes.
- Check the mobile number digit by digit.
- Open the PDF on your own phone and zoom in. Small text should be sharp.
- Look at the photo. Is it recent and clear?
- Make sure there is no Aadhaar number, PAN or full house address.
Our list of common biodata mistakes has more to check.
PDF Document, Image or Text
Each format has its place. Many families send two of them.
| Format | Good for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| PDF as a document | Printing, the astrologer, a family that is serious | Some elders find PDFs hard to open on old phones |
| JPG image | Viewing on the phone, forwarding to elders | Sent as a photo, WhatsApp may compress it |
| Typed text | Community groups, brokers | No photo, looks different on every phone |
Our biodata downloads both ways: an A4 PDF for printing, and one JPG that holds every page in a single image, so nobody has to swipe. For the text version, see our WhatsApp text format.
File Names That Look Right
A file called "IMG-20261015-WA0012.jpg" or "Document (3).pdf" gets lost in a busy phone. Name the file after the person:
- Karthik-Raman-Biodata.pdf
- Priya-Sharma-Biodata.pdf
- Ananya-Iyer-Biodata-Tamil.pdf (if you send two languages)
Our downloads are named this way automatically, from the Full Name: "Name-Biodata.pdf" or "Name-Biodata.jpg". If you made the biodata elsewhere, rename it before sending.
Avoid words like "final", "new" or "updated" in the file name. Once there is a second version, nobody knows which is final.
Sending It, Step by Step
On an Android phone:
- Open the WhatsApp chat with the family or broker.
- Tap the paperclip icon in the message box.
- Tap Document.
- Find the biodata in Downloads, or tap Browse documents.
- Tap the file, check the name, and tap Send.
On an iPhone:
- Open the chat.
- Tap the plus button next to the message box.
- Tap Document.
- Find the file in the Files app. Downloads from Safari are in iCloud Drive, in the Downloads folder, as Apple's page on finding downloads explains.
- Tap the file and tap Send.
To send the JPG as a picture, tap Photos instead of Document and choose the image. If the text looks blurry after sending, send the image as a document instead, which keeps the original quality.
If you make it on our free marriage biodata maker, then after you download, the screen that says "Your Biodata Is Ready" has a Share on WhatsApp button that does most of this for you.
The Message to Send with It
A biodata sent with no message looks careless, and one sent with a long paragraph looks anxious. Two or three lines is right.
| To | Message |
|---|---|
| A family you know | Namaste. Please find our daughter Priya's biodata. We would be happy to talk if you feel it suits. |
| A family through a relative | Namaskaram. Ramesh uncle gave us your number. Sending our son Karthik's biodata and horoscope details for your consideration. |
| A broker | Hello sir, biodata of our son, Karthik Raman, 30, Iyer, working in Chennai. Please share with suitable families. |
| In Hindi | Namaste ji, hamare bete Rahul ka biodata bhej rahe hain. Kundli milane ke baad baat karein. |
Sign it with the parent's name, so they know who is writing: "Regards, S. Raman (father)".
Sending by Email
Some families, especially NRIs and older relatives who prefer a laptop, ask for email.
Subject line: "Marriage biodata of Priya Sharma, 27, Jaipur"
Body: Two or three lines, like the WhatsApp message, with your name and phone number at the end. Attach the PDF, not a link to a cloud folder, which some elders cannot open.
Timing and Etiquette
- Send in the daytime, between 9 am and 8 pm. A biodata at 11 pm is not a good start.
- Avoid days of mourning or a major festival in the other family, if you know of one.
- Send it once. If there is no reply in a week, one polite follow-up is fine: "Did you get a chance to see the biodata?"
- Do not post the biodata in large groups with the photo. For groups, send short text and offer the PDF on request.
- If the family says no, reply with thanks. The marriage world is small, and they may know someone else.
Is It Safe to Send a Biodata on WhatsApp?
It is as safe as the people you send it to. Send it to families and brokers you know or who came through a relative.
Keep sensitive details out of the biodata in the first place: Aadhaar, PAN, bank details and the full address. If your photo or biodata is ever used in a fake profile, report it on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. For money lost in an online fraud, the portal lists helpline 1930.
Before sending, you can make your biodata as a PDF here, ready to share.
Common questions
Should I Send the Biodata as a PDF or a Photo?
Send the PDF as a document for printing and the astrologer. Send the JPG image too if elders will view it on the phone.
What Should I Name the Biodata File?
Use the person's name: "Priya-Sharma-Biodata.pdf". Avoid "final" or "new" in the name.
Should I Send the Biodata on WhatsApp or Email?
WhatsApp for most families in India. Email if the family asks, often NRIs or relatives who use a laptop.
What Message Should I Write with the Biodata?
Two or three polite lines: who you are, whose biodata it is, and that you would be glad to talk. Sign with the parent's name.
Why Does My Biodata Look Blurry on WhatsApp?
It was probably sent as a photo, which WhatsApp compresses. Send it as a document to keep the original quality.
