Biodata Format for Marriage in English

English is the default language of our maker, so a marriage biodata in English needs no extra step. Every heading and label prints in plain Indian English, and rasi, nakshatra and gotra keep their Indian names. Download it free as a PDF or JPG image for any family in India or abroad.

When English Is the Right Choice

English works when the two families do not share a script. A Tamil family in Chennai and a Marathi family in Pune can both read it. So can an uncle in Dubai or a cousin in New Jersey who never learnt the regional script.

It is also the usual choice for matrimony site chats, marriage bureaus in big cities, and many Christian, Parsi and inter-community families. If both families read Hindi or Tamil comfortably, a biodata in that language may feel warmer to the elders. You can make both.

The English Labels on Our Biodata

These are the exact headings and labels the English biodata prints, in this order.

SectionLabels
Personal DetailsFull Name, Date of Birth, Time of Birth, Place of Birth, Height, Religion, Caste / Community, Education, Job / Occupation
HoroscopeRasi, Nakshatra, Lagna, Chevvai / Manglik
Family DetailsFather's Name, Father's Occupation, Mother's Name, Mother's Occupation, Brothers, Sisters, Native Place
Contact DetailsMobile Number, Address

More rows, like Marital Status, Diet, Gotra or Current City, are one tap away under Add More Details. If a label does not suit your family, rename it from the row's three-dot menu. Kerala families often rename Nakshatra to Star.

Writing Indian Details in English

A few habits make an English biodata easy for every family to read.

Write the date as 21 August 1995, not 21/08/95. A family abroad may read 08/09 as August 9 instead of 8 September.

Give height in feet and inches, like 5 ft 9 in. Most Indian families still think in feet.

Write income as a yearly figure in rupees, like ₹12 lakh a year. "12 LPA" is fine for young readers but confuses some elders.

Keep Indian words as they are. Write Rasi: Mithuna, not just Gemini, and Gotra: Bharadwaj. Our maker prints the English name in brackets after the rasi, like "Mithuna (Gemini)", so both kinds of readers are covered.

Use Native Place, not Hometown. Every Indian family knows what it means.

The Line at the Top of an English Biodata

An English biodata starts with the blessing line switched off, so the top shows only the God symbol and the title. Turn it on under Top of the Biodata if your family wants one. You can pick a line from the list, like ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥, or tap Write My Own and type it in English letters, for example "Shri Ganeshaya Namah".

Christian families can choose the built-in verse "God is love. (1 John 4:8, KJV)". Muslim families often pick 786 as the symbol.

Common Questions

Can I Make My Biodata Fully in English and Download It?

Yes. English is already selected as the Biodata Language when you start. Fill in the form, verify your number once, and download the PDF or the JPG image free.

Should I Include Gotra and Rasi in an English Biodata?

Include them if your family or the other side follows horoscopes. Write them with their Indian names. Our maker fills rasi, nakshatra and lagna from the birth details, in English with the western sign in brackets.

What Is the Best Biodata Format for Marriage in English?

One page with four parts: personal details, horoscope, family details and contact. Our marriage biodata format page explains what to write in each part.

Can I Make the Same Biodata in English and in Hindi?

Yes, one after the other. Download the English copy, then change the Biodata Language to Hindi and download again. The labels change to Hindi. What you typed, like names and your job, stays exactly as you typed it.

Is an English Biodata Good for NRI Families?

Yes. English is the safest choice when the other family lives abroad. Add the country and city where you live with Add Your Own Field, and write dates in words so nobody mixes up the day and the month.
