Marriage Biodata for an NRI in Ireland

Marriage Biodata for an NRI in Ireland

An Indian in Ireland should add the city, the permit or stamp (Critical Skills Employment Permit, General Employment Permit, Stamp 4 or Irish citizen), the gross yearly salary in euros, and one line on whether the spouse can join and work. For a Critical Skills permit holder, Ireland's Department of Enterprise says permit holders can apply for immediate family reunification, and spouses living in Ireland can look for any job.

All other biodata sections stay the same.

Who Goes to Ireland, and What Families Ask

Ireland has a large Indian community of nurses, doctors, IT staff and pharma workers, many of them from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab. Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick come up again and again in proposals.

Kerala families in particular have often had an aunt or a cousin nursing in an Irish hospital. They know the words "Critical Skills" and "Stamp 4" and will read your permit line carefully.

The usual questions: Is it a permanent job? Can the wife come straight away, or after some years? Can she work as a nurse there? Which county?

How to Write Your Permit or Stamp

Ireland gives work through employment permits, and residence through "stamps" on the Irish Residence Permit card. Write both if you have both.

Your statusWrite it as
Skilled job on the shortage listCritical Skills Employment Permit, Dublin, since 2023
Other employer-sponsored jobGeneral Employment Permit, Cork
Long-term residenceStamp 4, Galway
StudentStamp 2, MSc at an Irish university, finishing 2027
CitizenIrish citizen, OCI card holder

Add the year. "Critical Skills permit since 2024" or "Stamp 4 since 2025" tells a family exactly where you stand.

Salary in Euros, Gross per Year

Irish salaries are agreed as a gross yearly figure. Write "EUR 52,000 gross per year". Our Annual Income field prints exactly what you type.

For nurses, the hospital grade helps families who know the system: "Staff Nurse, public hospital, Dublin". If you get overtime or night allowances, do not add them into the base figure.

Rent in Dublin is high. Skip the big rupee conversion, or put it in brackets with a line in About Me: "Share a rented house in Swords with my sister."

Can the Spouse Join and Work?

The Department of Enterprise page on the Critical Skills Employment Permit says permit holders can apply for immediate family reunification. It also says spouses and partners, once living in Ireland, are eligible to seek any employment.

The same page puts the minimum salary for most Critical Skills jobs at EUR 68,911 a year, or EUR 40,904 for jobs on a restricted list of strategic occupations. Check which band your own role falls in.

For a General Employment Permit, the spouse rules have been changed in recent years, and we could not read the latest wording on the immigration service's own page. Check irishimmigration.ie for your permit before writing the line.

So the honest lines look like this:

  • "Critical Skills permit. Wife can join straight away and can work in Ireland."
  • "General Employment Permit. Spouse rules to be confirmed with Irish immigration."
  • "Stamp 4. Spouse visa to be applied after marriage."

Time Difference with India

Ireland is 5 hours 30 minutes behind India in winter and 4 hours 30 minutes behind in summer, from late March to late October. At 8 pm in Kochi in December, it is 2:30 pm in Dublin.

A small thing that confuses grandparents: Ireland's summer time is officially called Irish Standard Time, so "IST" means something else there. Write the call time in plain words: "Free for calls after 6 pm Irish time."

India Contact and OTP

Give a Contact Person in India with an Indian mobile number. Families start with the parents.

Our maker sends an OTP before the first download, and it works only with Indian (+91) numbers. An Irish +353 number will not get the code. Ask your father or mother to verify with their number.
