Groom Biodata Format in Tamil, with Two Filled Samples

Groom Biodata Format in Tamil, with Two Filled Samples

A groom biodata in Tamil has four parts: personal details, jathagam details, family details and contact. For a mappillai (groom), the rows the girl's family reads first are the job with the town, the yearly income, the star with padam and the family's native place. Below are two filled samples you can copy for your son.

Both samples are made up. No name, date or number belongs to a real person.

What Goes in a Tamil Groom Biodata, in Order

A Tamil biodata for a boy runs from top to bottom like this:

  1. A symbol and a blessing line at the top, often the Pillaiyar Suzhi and "Pillaiyar Thunai".
  2. The title, usually "Thirumana Biodata".
  3. One photo, if the family wants it.
  4. Personal details: name with initial, date, time and place of birth, height, religion, caste, education, job.
  5. Jathagam details: rasi, natchathiram with padam, lagnam, sevvai dosham.
  6. Family details: father, mother, brothers, sisters, native place, thai mama.
  7. Contact: one mobile number and the town.

When you pick Tamil as the biodata language, every row label prints in Tamil by itself. Name prints as பெயர் and the star row as நட்சத்திரம். You only type the details.

Sample 1, a Boy in a Chennai IT Job, with Jathagam

This boy is from Melur near Madurai and works in Chennai. The rows follow the order they print in.

Rohini falls wholly inside Rishabam rasi. So if your son's star is Rohini and the rasi row says anything else, something is wrong. Check the jathagam before you send it. A jothidar (astrologer) will spot a mismatch in seconds.

Sample 2, a Boy in Business, Without Jathagam

Not every family puts the jathagam on the biodata. Some send it later, only when the first talk goes well. This sample is short on purpose.

There is no jathagam block here at all. In our maker, turning off "Include horoscope on the biodata" hides the whole section.

The Rows the Girl's Family Reads First

When the girl's parents open a boy's biodata, their eyes go to the job, the town and the income, and only then to the family. So make those three rows clear.

Write the designation, the type of company and the city. "IT" alone tells them nothing. "Senior Software Engineer, a private IT company, Chennai" tells them where their daughter will live.

Write income for the year, in lakh. "₹14 lakh" means yearly income. If you write "60,000" in the Annual Income row, the reader will not know whether that is a month or a year.

If the sister is married, say so. The girl's side will ask anyway. And if the native place and the working town are different, write both. Melur and Chennai are a full night's bus ride apart, and that changes a lot for the girl.

The Initial, Thiru and Selvan

Most Tamil boys write the father's initial before the name: "R. Vignesh" means Vignesh, son of a father whose name starts with R. Families from other states sometimes read the initial as a surname. Write the name as it is on the SSLC certificate and give the father's full name in the family section.

Thiru. before the father's name and Thirumathi. before the mother's name is the usual Tamil style. A few families also put Selvan before the boy's own name, the way wedding invitations do. It is optional. Type it in the Full Name row if you want it, and check it still fits the 60 characters that row takes.

Kuladeivam, Thai Mama and Other Tamil Rows

Many Tamil groom biodatas carry the kuladeivam (family deity) with its temple village, like "Ayyanar, Thirumangalam". Our form has no ready row for it. Use Add Your Own Field, type Kuladeivam as the field name, and move it up next to Native Place from the three-dot menu.

The thai mama (mother's brother) is under Add More Details in the family section as Maternal Uncle, and on a Tamil biodata it prints as தாய்மாமா. Write his name and town. Our page on family details in a Tamil biodata explains how to write parents, late parents and siblings.

What to Leave Out

Leave out the complexion row. Older biodatas carried it, and many families now skip it. It is optional in our form, and nobody needs it to decide.

Never put Aadhaar, PAN or an office ID card on a biodata. It will travel through many WhatsApp groups, to phones you do not know.

There is no Age row in our form. The reader works it out from the date of birth, and you do not have to change the biodata every birthday.

Making This Biodata for Your Son

Pick a design on our biodata templates page, choose Male under "This Biodata Is For" and type the full name. The mobile number is checked by OTP before the first download. Then pick Tamil as the language, or make a Tamil biodata here with Tamil already set.

Rasi, natchathiram with padam and lagnam fill in by themselves from the date, time and place of birth. If your jathagam shows a different star, pick the jathagam's star. The Chevvai / Manglik row never fills itself. Choose No, Yes, Partial or Don't Know after looking at the jathagam.

You get an A4 PDF and a JPG, and the next screen offers a free Word file of the same biodata. A free download carries a small "Made free at hellobiodata.com" line at the bottom, and Biodata Plus at ₹29 removes it. For English samples, see our biodata for marriage for boy page.

Common questions

Is a Photo Needed on a Groom Biodata?

No. The photo is optional, and our biodata takes one photo only. Many girls' families do open the biodatas with a photo first.

What If We Do Not Want to Write the Income?

Leave the Annual Income row out. It sits under Add More Details, so it is not on the biodata unless you add it. The girl's side will ask when the talk moves ahead.

Can I Make the Same Groom Biodata in English?

Yes. Switch the language to English and download again. The labels change to English and your typed details stay as typed.

Should the Caste Row Be Filled?

That is your family's decision. Remove the Caste / Community row from its three-dot menu if you do not want it.

Which Star Goes on the Biodata, the Form's or the Jathagam's?

The jathagam's. The girl's jothidar will match from that jathagam, so the biodata must agree with it.
