Marathi Biodata Format for a Boy

A Marathi marriage biodata for a boy has four parts: personal details, patrika (horoscope) details, family details and contact. The girl's family reads the job or business line first, then the town he works in, his age from the date of birth, and the patrika. Below are three filled samples for three very different boys.

One works for an IT company in Pune. One runs his own hardware shop in Miraj. One farms his family's land near Phaltan. All names, dates and phone numbers are made up.

How the Boy's Name Is Written

Marathi families write the boy's name with his father's name in the middle: first name, father's name, surname. "Rohan Anil Deshmukh" tells the reader that the father is Anil before they reach the family section.

Some families add "Chi." (short for Chiranjeev) before an unmarried boy's name. That is a matter of family habit. Our form does not add it, so type it in the name line if you want it.

Sample 1, a Boy in a Private Job

Rohan is 30 and works in Hinjewadi. On a Marathi biodata the labels print in Marathi. Here they are shown in English, with the Marathi word in brackets.

Look at the job line. Post, type of company, place. If you write only "IT field", the girl's father will ask the rest on the first phone call anyway.

Sample 2, a Boy with His Own Shop

Sagar runs a hardware shop that he started himself. Families judge a business partly by how old it is, so the year goes in.

"Since 2018" does a lot of work. The shop is not new. The next question will be whether the shop premises are owned or rented. You can answer that in the Property line if you like.

Sample 3, a Farmer Boy

Ganesh farms with his father. For a farmer, the land tells the story better than an income figure, because farm income changes every year with rain and prices.

What the Girl's Side Looks at First

In most Marathi homes the girl's parents read a boy's biodata in roughly this order:

1. The job or business, and where it is.
2. The date of birth, which gives the age gap.
3. Education.
4. Ras, nakshatra and mangal, if they match patrikas.
5. Who lives at home, and where the girl will live after marriage.

Do the Patrika Rows Need Gan and Nadi?

Many Marathi families also print gan and nadi under the ras and nakshatra, because nadi carries 8 of the 36 points in gun milan and gan carries 6. Our form does not have ready rows for them. Add them with Add Your Own Field at the end of the horoscope section, one row for gan and one for nadi. Take both from the family patrika, never guess them.

About Me Lines for a Boy

The samples above leave out About Me because it is optional. If you keep it, write two or three true sentences. For Rohan it could be: "I work as a software engineer in Hinjewadi. I play cricket every Sunday morning. My parents live in Rahuri and I go home once a month."

Skip lines like "I am honest and hardworking". Every second biodata says it. Nobody remembers it.

How to Fill These Samples in Our Maker
