A second marriage profile in Kannada is the usual biodata with two things made plain near the top. First, the marital status: divorced, widowed or awaiting divorce. Second, if there are children, how many, their ages and who they live with. The story of the first marriage stays off the page. That is for a conversation, if the other side asks.
Hiding the status does not work. It comes out at the first visit, and the talk ends there. Written openly, it filters the calls for you, because the families who phone after reading it already know and are fine with it.
How Marital Status Prints in Kannada
Marital Status is under Add More Details in Personal Details. It has four choices. On a Kannada biodata they print like this:
| You pick | Kannada biodata prints | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Never Married | ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿಲ್ಲ (maduveyagilla) | Not married |
| Divorced | ವಿಚ್ಛೇದನವಾಗಿದೆ (vichchhedanavagide) | Divorced |
| Widowed | Sangathi nidhanaragiddare | Spouse has passed away |
| Awaiting Divorce | Vichchhedana baaki ide | Divorce pending |
Picking Divorced or Widowed adds no extra rows. The year and the children go in by hand, as shown below.
Move the Marital Status row up near the name with Move Up in its three-dot menu. Readers should see it at the first glance, not find it halfway down.
If the Divorce Is Still Pending
Pick Awaiting Divorce and say so plainly. Under Hindu law, a new marriage is not valid until the divorce decree is final. The other family needs to know this before talks begin.
Many families wait until the decree comes. Let the other side decide. Our page on when you can remarry after divorce explains the legal waiting period, and awaiting divorce in a biodata covers the wording.
Where to Write About Children
There is no ready row for children. At the end of Personal Details, tap Add Your Own Field.
| Field name | Details |
|---|---|
| Children | 1 daughter, 6 years, lives with me |
| Children | 1 son, 9 years, lives with grandparents in Hubballi |
| Children | None |
Write "None" too when there are no children. It is the first question in nearly every second marriage proposal. The details box takes up to 120 characters, enough for one clear line.
Do not write the child's name or school. That comes much later, after the families have met.
How Much to Say About the First Marriage
Only the facts: the status, the year, and children. "Divorced in 2023 by mutual consent" is enough. Whose fault it was, what happened, court details: none of it belongs on the biodata.
Do not name the former spouse or put any old photo. Do not write a case number.
About Me Lines That Work
For a divorced woman: "I have taught Kannada at a high school in Hubballi for eight years. My divorce came through in 2023 by mutual consent. I live with my parents. I hope to meet a calm person who is happy for me to keep working."
For a widowed man: "My wife passed away in 2022. Our son is 4 and lives with us and my parents. I work as a site engineer in Davanagere."
For a widowed woman with a child: "My husband passed away in 2021. My daughter is 7 and lives with me. I work at a bank in Mysuru. I am looking for a family who will accept my daughter as their own."
Keep the reason for a spouse's death out. The year is enough. If there are children with grandparents, say that in the children row.
Expectations, Written Clearly
In a second marriage profile, expectations matter more than usual. Two clear examples:
- "Divorced or widowed candidates are welcome."
- "Only those who will accept my daughter as their own."
Add this at the end of About Me, or as an "Expectations" row with Add Your Own Field. More examples are in our English guide to the biodata for second marriage.

Photo and Design
Use a recent photo. A ten-year-old wedding-season photo does more harm than good. Many families choose a simple design for a second marriage profile.

Common questions
Is the Jataka Needed for a Second Marriage?
It is the family's choice. Many Karnataka families still match jatakas for a second marriage, and some do not. To drop it, switch off "Include horoscope on the biodata".
Can I Hide the Marital Status?
Please do not. When it comes out on the first call or visit, trust is lost. Written openly, it brings only the families who are fine with it.
Is the Profile Different After 40?
The structure is the same. Be clear about work, home and children, and use a recent photo.
Should the First Spouse's Name Be Written?
No. No name, photo or court details of the first marriage go on the biodata.
