Jain Marriage Biodata in Gujarati

A Jain marriage biodata in Gujarati starts with નમો અરિહંતાણં or ॥ જય જિનેન્દ્ર ॥ at the top. Then come the usual Gujarati rows: નામ, જન્મ તારીખ, અભ્યાસ, નોકરી / વ્યવસાય, પિતાનું નામ. Religion prints as ધર્મ: જૈન, the sect goes in a સંપ્રદાય row, and the diet row reads જૈન શાકાહારી.

Gujarati Jain families, whether in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Kutch or Mumbai, read the જ્ઞાતિ, the મૂળ વતન and the sampraday before anything else. Write those three lines with care.

Gujarati Labels That Print

Pick Gujarati as the biodata language and these labels print by themselves:

Religion prints as જૈન. Diet "Jain Food" prints as જૈન શાકાહારી.

Header Lines and Symbols

Pick the Jain Swastik or the Ahimsa Hand symbol first. The Blessing Line list follows the symbol. On a Gujarati biodata these come first:

Some families like the Devanagari णमो अरिहंताणं because it is how the Navkar Mantra is printed in their prayer books. Either is fine.

Title options in Gujarati are લગ્ન બાયોડેટા, લગ્ન માટે બાયોડેટા, બાયોડેટા and પરિચય પત્ર. Our Gujarati header guide covers every faith.

Sampraday, Jnati, Vatan and Mosal

Sampraday first. Add the Sect chip from Add More Details; it prints as સંપ્રદાય. The list has દિગંબર and શ્વેતાંબર, with the Shwetambar branches: મૂર્તિપૂજક (દેરાવાસી), સ્થાનકવાસી and તેરાપંથી. You can type your own too.

For jnati, type it in the જ્ઞાતિ / સમાજ row the way your samaj writes it, such as "વિસા ઓસવાળ" or "દશા શ્રીમાળી". Add the sub-group if your family looks for a match within it.

Vatan is simple. Write the village and taluka in મૂળ વતન, even if the family has lived in Mumbai for three generations. "Bhujpur, Kutch" tells the other side a great deal.

Then the mosal. Gujarati biodatas often name the maternal family. Add it with Add Your Own Field: field name મોસાળ, detail like "Mehta family, Mandvi (Kutch)".

Food and Practice Lines

The diet row already says જૈન શાકાહારી. Some families add one line on practice with Add Your Own Field, for example:

Write it only if it is true for the boy or girl, not for the family in general. The other side will ask.

Kundli and Gotra

For Jain families the જન્માક્ષર માહિતી section stays on. Rasi, nakshatra with pada and lagna fill in from the date, time and place of birth, and the મંગળ row has No, Yes, Partial and Don't Know. It is never filled for you.

Many Gujarati Jain families still match kundli before a meeting, and some do not. If yours does not, switch the section off with "Include horoscope on the biodata".

Gotra is a chip in the Horoscope section. If you switch the horoscope off and still want gotra, add it as your own field in Family Details.
