The family section of a Telugu biodata has the father's name and job, the mother's name and job, the brothers and sisters with how many are married, and the swasthalam (native place) with its district. Most Telugu families also write the menamama, the mother's brother, with his town. Parents' names carry Sri and Srimathi, usually with the intiperu.
This is the section where the other side decides whether they already know your people.
Father and Mother
Write Sri before the father's name and Srimathi before the mother's, with the intiperu (family name) first: "Sri Polavarapu Nageswara Rao". The mother's name is often written without the intiperu, "Srimathi Sarojini". Either way is fine. Type the prefix yourself. The form prints names as typed.
For the job, give the work and the town. A single word makes people guess.
| Instead of | Write |
|---|---|
| Job | Depot Manager, APSRTC, Vijayawada |
| Business | Wholesale kirana business, Narasaraopet |
| Retired | Retired teacher, ZP High School, Tenali |
| At home | Homemaker |
| Agriculture | Agriculture, 6 acres of wet land |
Whether to write the acres is your choice. Many families write only "Agriculture" and say the rest in person.
Writing a Late Parent
If the father or mother has passed away, Telugu families write Ki.Se. before the name. It is short for Keerthiseshulu, a respectful word for the departed: "Ki.Se. Polavarapu Nageswara Rao". In the job row, write what he did, like "was a postmaster". Muslim families write Marhoom before the name.
No extra explanation is needed. Do not leave the row blank, though. A blank row makes the reader wonder.
Brothers, Sisters and Their Families
Our form has a Total and a Married count for Brothers and for Sisters. One elder brother who is married is Brothers: Total 1, Married 1. The biodata prints the number with the married count beside it.
To say what a sibling does, add a row with Add Your Own Field. Telugu words work well as field names:
| Field name | Details |
|---|---|
| Annayya (elder brother) | Software engineer, Pune, married |
| Chelli (younger sister) | B.Tech final year |
| Bava (sister's husband) | Clerk, SBI, Ongole |
The details box takes 120 characters. One row per person is plenty. Akka (elder sister) and tammudu (younger brother) work the same way.
The Menamama
The menamama has a special place in a Telugu wedding, and elders on the other side ask about him early. His name and town on the biodata often start the "we know them" conversation.
In the family section, open Add More Details and pick Maternal Uncle. Write his name and town: "Sri Kolli Subba Rao, Chirala". On a Telugu biodata the label prints as మేనమామ, which reads menamama. Our maternal uncle guide shows how other communities write the mother's side.
Pedananna and chinnanna (father's elder and younger brothers) are not needed. For a large joint family, one or two names with Add Your Own Field are enough. More than that and the biodata slides onto a second page.
Swasthalam and the Current City
The swasthalam is where the family comes from, even if they have lived in Hyderabad for 25 years. Write the town and the district: "Bhimavaram, West Godavari district". Since the new districts came in 2022, some towns are in a different district than before. Use the district the family uses today, or give both.
Where the family lives now goes in the Current City row of the contact section. The reader then sees both places clearly.
Family Type, Status and Property
These are optional, under Add More Details. Family Type is Nuclear Family or Joint Family. Family Status is Middle Class, Upper Middle Class or Affluent.
For property, some families write "Own house, Bhimavaram" or "10 acres, paddy". Do not write a money value, gold, or anything about katnam (dowry). It all travels to strangers.

Our Telugu biodata for a boy shows a family section like this inside a full biodata.
What to Keep off the Family Section
The father's income does not belong on the biodata. The income row is for the boy or girl only. Family disputes and court cases are for later, in person, once both sides trust each other. For the rows every family writes, in any language, see our general page on family details in a marriage biodata.

Common questions
What If the Parents Live Apart?
Write the name of the parent the boy or girl lives with. You can keep the other name, or remove that row. Explain in person.
What If There Are No Brothers or Sisters?
Leave the counts at zero. If you want to say "only son", put it in About Me.
Is the Menamama Row Compulsory?
No. Add it only if you want to. Most Telugu families do, because it helps the other side place the mother's family.
Can I Write Ki.Se. in English Letters?
Yes. Type "Ki.Se." or "Late" before the name. It prints as typed.
Where Does the Gotram Go, Family or Jatakam Section?
In our form, Gotra sits in the horoscope section. If you prefer it under family, add it there with Add Your Own Field, and do not write it twice.
