The vivah muhurat dates in March 2027 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 14 March, as per Drik Panchang's marriage calendar for New Delhi. That is 7 days, and all of them fall in the first half of the month. On 15 March 2027 the Sun enters Meena, the second Kharmas of the year begins, and there are no marriage dates again until 18 April.
So March is a short month for weddings. If you are aiming for March, plan around the first two weeks only.
March 2027 Marriage Muhurat Dates
Times are New Delhi local time, as shown on Drik Panchang on 15 October 2026.
| Date | Day | Muhurat time (New Delhi) | Nakshatra | Tithi |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 March 2027 | Monday | 11:12 pm to 6:46 am on 2 March | Mula | Navami, Dashami |
| 2 March 2027 | Tuesday | 6:46 am to 3:24 pm | Mula | Dashami |
| 3 March 2027 | Wednesday | 1:06 am to 6:44 am on 4 March | Uttara Ashadha | Ekadashi |
| 4 March 2027 | Thursday | 6:44 am to 1:35 am on 5 March | Uttara Ashadha | Dwadashi |
| 9 March 2027 | Tuesday | 9:58 am to 6:37 am on 10 March | Uttara Bhadrapada | Pratipada, Dwitiya |
| 10 March 2027 | Wednesday | 6:37 am to 5:13 am on 11 March | Uttara Bhadrapada, Revati | Dwitiya, Tritiya |
| 14 March 2027 | Sunday | 5:10 pm to 6:31 am on 15 March | Rohini | Saptami |
Read the 3 March row with care. The window opens at 1:06 am, which on the clock is already Thursday, 4 March. A panchang day runs from sunrise to the next sunrise, so the hours before dawn are counted with the day before.
The longest windows are on 4 March and 10 March. Each covers almost a full day and night, so a morning ceremony and a late reception can both sit inside the muhurat.
How Prokerala's March List Compares
Prokerala's 2027 marriage page shows four windows in March:
| Prokerala window | Nakshatra | Matches Drik Panchang day |
|---|---|---|
| 2 March, 2:07 am to 6:28 am | Moola | 1 March (night) |
| 4 March, 1:05 am to 5 March, 1:35 am | Uttara Ashadha | 3 and 4 March |
| 10 March, 6:23 am to 11 March, 11:19 am | Uttara Bhadrapada | 10 March |
| 14 March, 12:32 pm to 15 March, 6:55 am | Rohini | 14 March |
So 4, 10 and 14 March, and the early hours of 2 March, are on both lists. If the two families want dates that both big panchang sites agree on, start there. Prokerala does not name the city its times are for, so use Drik's New Delhi times above or set your own city on Drik Panchang.
Why the Rest of March Has No Dates
Drik Panchang gives a reason for every day it leaves out:
| Dates | Reason given |
|---|---|
| 5 to 8 March, 11 to 13 March | No suitable nakshatra |
| 15 March | The day partly falls in the prohibited solar month |
| 16 to 31 March | Prohibited solar month (Sun in Meena) |
The Sun moves into Meena (Pisces) at 7:04 am on Monday, 15 March 2027, as per Drik Panchang's sankranti list. Many North Indian families call this month Kharmas or Malmas, the same name they use for the December stretch when the Sun is in Dhanu. It ends with Mesha Sankranti at 3:33 pm on 14 April 2027.
Our post on Kharmas explains both of these stretches, the one in December and January and the one in March and April.
Does Holashtak 2027 Block Any March Dates?
Holashtak is the eight-day period before Holika Dahan, counted from the Ashtami of Phalguna Shukla Paksha to the Purnima. Many families in North India do not hold weddings in it. Holika Dahan is on Sunday, 21 March 2027, and Holi is on 22 March, as per Drik Panchang's festival list.
In 2027 Holashtak falls almost entirely inside Meena Kharmas, which is already closed. The only date that comes close is 14 March. Drik Panchang shows the tithi that evening as Saptami, one day before Ashtami, so the muhurat sits just outside Holashtak on the calendar.
Drik Panchang also says plainly that its marriage list does not take Holashtak into account. If your family follows Holashtak strictly, show 14 March to your priest before you book anything.
Weekend and Holiday Dates in March 2027
March 2027 has only one weekend muhurat: Sunday, 14 March, from 5:10 pm to 6:31 am the next morning. That suits an evening or night wedding. There is no Saturday date this month.
Maha Shivaratri falls on Saturday, 6 March 2027, but Drik Panchang gives no marriage muhurat that day. For a weekday wedding with a long window, Thursday 4 March and Wednesday 10 March are the strongest picks.
Do Tamil, Telugu and Bengali Calendars Agree?
The dates above use the solar-month rules that Drik Panchang applies across India. Drik Panchang argues that marriage dates should be the same in every Hindu calendar, because only the solar month is checked. Many regional panchangams still publish their own lists, and those can differ.
For Tamil families, March 2027 runs across the end of Maasi and the start of Panguni. Panguni begins with the same sankranti on 15 March, the day the North Indian calendar closes for Kharmas. Telugu and Kannada families start the new year with Ugadi on 7 April 2027, which is still inside the closed stretch. In every region, the priest who will conduct the wedding should confirm the date.
Engagement and Roka Dates in March 2027
Neither Drik Panchang nor Prokerala publishes a separate engagement list. Families usually take a good day from the priest for the roka, sagai or nichayathartham, and a day that clears the stricter marriage checks is the easiest to agree on. Read our engagement muhurat guide for how families pick one.
If the wedding is planned for late April or May 2027, an engagement in the first half of March leaves about two months for the hall, cards and clothes.
How to Choose the Time on the Day
The window in the table is the outer limit. Inside it, the priest fixes the lagna, a slot of about two hours when a good rising sign is in place. Drik Panchang does not consider the lagna when it lists dates, so this step is always the priest's job. Our guide on how vivah muhurat is calculated explains each check.
The priest will want the date, time and place of birth for both the bride and the groom. If those details are going out with the biodata anyway, keep them correct in one place. You can make a marriage biodata with rasi, nakshatra and lagna filled in from the birth details, and download it as a PDF or a JPG.
Booking Tips for March 2027
- Treat 14 March as the last date before a gap of more than a month. Halls in big cities will go early for it.
- For a daytime wedding, 2 March (6:46 am to 3:24 pm) and 4 March give the most room.
- For a night wedding, 1, 9 and 14 March all have windows that run past midnight.
- If March is full, the next marriage date on Drik Panchang is Sunday, 18 April 2027. Our April 2027 list has all of them.
- Students sit board exams in March in most states. If cousins are in Class 10 or 12, check the exam timetable before fixing the date.
For the whole year, including the long gap after mid-July, see our vivah muhurat 2027 list. The month before this one is in our February 2027 list.
