Hobbies for a Marriage Biodata

Hobbies for a Marriage Biodata

For hobbies in a marriage biodata, list two or three things the person really does, like cooking, cricket, Carnatic music or gardening. Single words are fine in the Hobbies line. If you have room in About Me, turn one hobby into a short sentence with how often and why, because that is what gives the other family something to talk about.

Why Hobbies Get Read Closely

Hobbies look like a small line, but the other family uses them to picture daily life. A boy who plays cricket every Sunday will be out every Sunday morning. A girl who sings bhajans will fit well in a religious home. A couple who both like trekking already have their first holiday planned.

At the first meeting, hobbies are also the easiest topic. "Your biodata says you paint. What do you paint?" breaks the ice faster than "So, what do you do?"

So write hobbies that are true. If the biodata says "reading" and the boy cannot name the last book he read, it shows.

How Many Hobbies to List

Two or three. One looks thin. Six looks copied from a list, and nobody believes all six.

In the Hobbies line, single words are enough: "Cooking, Badminton, Old Hindi songs". If you want more, use this simple pattern in About Me:

Activity + how often + what you get from it.

"I play badminton three evenings a week, it keeps me fresh after office." That one line says the person is active, regular and has a routine.

Hobbies Families Like to See

No hobby is right or wrong, but some tell the other family more than others.

Hobbies done with family, like cooking, temple visits or looking after plants, suggest a person who is comfortable at home. Regular sport or yoga suggests discipline. Music and dance often connect with the other family, especially in South Indian homes where children learn them for years. Volunteering says something about values without needing a word like "kind".

The point is not to pick hobbies that please. Pick true ones, and choose the two that tell the most about the person.

Also leave out Instagram or YouTube handles, even for a photography or cooking channel. The biodata travels to people you do not know.

If anyone misuses a photo or profile, you can report it on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. And if a biodata website or app holds your details, use its own delete option. The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 will give you a legal right to ask for erasure only from around May 2027, as the Press Information Bureau explains.

Hobby Names in Hindi and Marathi

If the biodata prints in Hindi or Marathi, common hobby names typed in English, like Reading or Cooking, print in that language too.

Adding Hobbies on Our Form

On Hello Biodata, Hobbies is under Add More Details in Personal Details. You type the hobbies with a comma between them, like "Reading, Cooking, Cricket". They print as one line. For a sentence with more detail, use About Me instead. Ananya's About Me on our marriage biodata sample page shows how one hobby, Carnatic music, fits into a sentence.

You can add hobbies to your biodata here along with the rest of the format. Our About Me guide shows how a hobby fits into the four-line formula.

Common questions

What Should I Write in Hobbies in a Marriage Biodata?

Two or three real hobbies, like cooking, music or cricket. Single words are fine. Add a sentence in About Me if you want to say more.

What Are Good Hobbies for a Girl's Biodata?

Whatever she really does. Cooking, music, dance, reading, gardening and yoga are common, but painting, trekking or chess are just as good if they are true.

What Are Good Hobbies for a Boy's Biodata?

Sport, cooking, reading, music, travel or volunteering, if they are real. A regular activity says more than a long list.

Should I Write "Reading, Music" or Full Sentences?

Single words in the Hobbies line, and one full sentence in About Me. That way the line stays neat and the sentence gives a detail.

Which Hobbies Should I Avoid in a Biodata?

Ones that elders may misread, like partying or gaming, and anything you do not really do. Also leave out social media handles.
