A one page marriage biodata keeps about 18 lines: name, date, time and place of birth, height, religion and caste, education, job, rasi and nakshatra if you match horoscopes, parents with their work, brothers and sisters, native place, a three-line About Me and one phone number. Income, property, the full list of relatives and long expectations can wait for the first phone call.
Everything on this page is about what to keep. For the bigger question of one page or two, see our guide on how many pages a biodata should be.
The 18 Lines Worth Keeping
| # | Line | Why it stays |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Full Name | As on certificates |
| 2 | Date of Birth | Age is worked out from it |
| 3 | Time of Birth | Needed for the horoscope |
| 4 | Place of Birth | Needed for the horoscope |
| 5 | Height | Asked in nearly every call |
| 6 | Religion, Caste / Community | Most families search within one |
| 7 | Education | Highest degree, and college if it helps |
| 8 | Job / Occupation | Post, employer, city |
| 9 | Rasi | If horoscopes are matched |
| 10 | Nakshatra | If horoscopes are matched |
| 11 | Manglik | If horoscopes are matched |
| 12 | Gotra | If your family uses it |
| 13 | Father's Name and work | One line |
| 14 | Mother's Name and work | One line |
| 15 | Brothers and Sisters | Number, and who is married |
| 16 | Native Place | Town and district |
| 17 | About Me | Three or four lines |
| 18 | Mobile Number | One number a parent answers |
Families who do not match horoscopes drop lines 3, 9, 10 and 11, and the page breathes easily.
What Can Wait for the Phone Call
These details are fair to ask about, but they do not need to sit on page one.
- Annual income and salary breakup
- Property, land and flats
- The full list of uncles, aunts and cousins
- Blood group and weight
- More than three hobbies
- A long list of expectations
- The full home address
Leaving these out does not hide anything. It keeps the page readable, and it keeps private details off 30 phones you do not know.
A few families in some communities expect the maternal uncle, the kuldevi or the devak on page one. If yours does, keep that line and cut a hobby instead.

The Short Biodata, for Booklets and Groups
Some places want even less: a samaj melava booklet, a group post, or a broker's register. For these, a 10-line short biodata works.
- Name (first name is enough for a group)
- Age and height
- Education
- Job and city
- Caste or sub-group
- Native place
- Rasi and manglik, if used
- Father's work
- Siblings
- Contact, or "through the admin"
Keep the full one-page PDF for families who reply. Our guide to samaj WhatsApp biodata groups shows how a short post works in a group.
Writing Each Line Short
Most biodatas run long because of how the lines are written, not because of how many there are.
| Long | Short |
|---|---|
| "He is presently working as a Senior Software Engineer in a reputed MNC located in Bengaluru" | "Senior software engineer, an IT company, Bengaluru" |
| "Father: Mr. Ramesh Kumar Gupta, who retired from the Indian Railways in the year 2021 as Office Superintendent" | "Father: Ramesh Kumar Gupta, retired, Indian Railways" |
| "She is a very caring, family-oriented girl who believes in traditional values" | Cut it. Write one real thing she does or likes |
Dates in words ("11 February 1998") and heights in feet and inches ("5 ft 4 in") are both short and clear.
Fitting It on One Page in Our Maker
On Hello Biodata there is no page setting. The layout fits itself, and a normal biodata stays on one page. If yours spills over, these steps bring it back:
- Remove optional lines you added from Add More Details, using the three-dot menu and Remove.
- Shorten About Me to three or four lines. It allows up to 700 characters, which is more than one page needs.
- Turn off the Horoscope section if your family does not match horoscopes.
- Pick a simpler design. Simple designs leave more room for text than heavily decorated ones.
The maker never goes past three pages. If it says "Too long for 3 pages. Hide some details.", remove a few lines and try again.
For plain one-page designs that print well even in black and white, see our simple marriage biodata format, and for more filled examples, the marriage biodata sample page.
