Biodata for Marriage for a Girl, with a Filled Sample

A girl's marriage biodata has the same sections as any biodata, but the boy's family reads three lines most closely: her education, her work and her plans after marriage. Write those plainly, add an About Me that sounds like her, and the rest is birth details, horoscope, family and one contact number.

What Should a Girl Write in Her Marriage Biodata?

She should write her full name, date, time and place of birth, height, education, job, star details, parents, siblings, native place and a contact number. That is the core. Everything else is her choice.

Here is a filled example for a made-up girl from Chennai. The phone number is masked and the person does not exist.

Notice the Contact Person line. When the father handles the calls, his name and number go there, and Kavya's own number stays private.

Should a Girl Mention Her Salary?

She can, but she does not have to. Annual Income is an optional field in our form. Some families leave it out of a girl's biodata and share it on the phone once the boy's side shows interest.

If she does write it, write it as a yearly figure, such as "₹8.5 lakh per annum". A monthly figure gets misread when forwarded.

How to Word Work and Plans After Marriage

This is the line the boy's parents will ask about first, so it is better said on paper. Pick the sentence that is true for her.

Her situationOne line for About Me
Working, wants to continue"I plan to keep working after marriage."
Open to moving"Open to relocating for the right family, within India."
Wants to stay in her city"Prefer a match settled in Chennai."
Studying now"Finishing my MBA in May 2027, then plan to work."
Not working"Completed M.Sc., currently at home and open to work later."

One plain line avoids months of polite guessing on both sides.

About Me Lines That Sound Like Her

The About Me works best at three to four sentences in her own voice. Here are two made-up examples to borrow from.

A working girl: "I work as a software engineer in Chennai and enjoy cooking for my family on Sundays. I learnt Bharatanatyam for ten years. Looking for an educated boy, working in Chennai or Bengaluru, who respects a working wife."

A girl at home: "I completed my M.Sc. in Chemistry and help my father with his accounts office. I read Tamil novels and grow plants on our terrace. Looking for a kind, well-educated boy from a family that likes to stay close."

Avoid lines that could fit any girl in India, like "simple and family-oriented". They tell the reader nothing.

Which Photo Should Go on a Girl's Biodata?

Use a recent, clear photo taken in daylight, face and shoulders, in clothes she would wear to a family function. Our designs have one passport-size photo box, and you can crop the photo to fit. If the family prefers to share a photo only after the first call, leave it out.

Can Parents Make the Biodata for Their Daughter?

Yes. Often a parent makes it. Do sit with her for the About Me lines, though. A parent's version of "she is very adjusting" is not what the boy's side needs to read.

For a ladki ka biodata in Hindi, type everything in English and choose Hindi as the print language. The labels print in Devanagari. For gotra and kuldevi lines, the Hindu marriage biodata page has a filled sample.

Common Questions

How Is a Girl's Biodata Different from a Boy's?

The fields are the same. The difference is in what gets read closely: for a girl it is usually education and work plans, for a boy it is job and income.

Should a Girl's Biodata Mention Complexion?

Complexion is an optional field, and you can leave it out. If you add it, use a neutral word and keep it short.

Is It Safe to Put a Girl's Photo and Number on a Biodata?

The biodata can be forwarded many times. Use a parent's number as the Contact Person, write Current City in place of the full address, and share the photo only with families you know something about.

How Long Should a Girl's Biodata Be?

One or two A4 pages is enough. Add Hobbies and About Me if they say something real about her, and leave the rest out.
